Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Live Busyness" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: the "popular times" card in a friendly gym app at night. Deep indigo, rounded soft violet bars and one glowing pink bar that says "you are here, right now".

Colors (use these exact values):
- Outer page #0C0A24; card #16133A (26px radius, inset 24px). Ink #F4F2FF, secondary text #A7A2D6, faint text #6E68A8, gridlines #241F52, baseline #3A3478.
- Typical bars: soft violet #7C6FE0 with a vertical gradient to 55% opacity at the base.
- Current or highlighted bar and live accents: pink #F472B6.
- Live estimate line: #E9E6FF.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Rubik throughout. Place name 600 18px; context line 400 14px #A7A2D6; title 600 30px with -0.4px letter-spacing stating the finding; subtitle 400 14.5px; day chips 500 14px (selected 600 on a 16px-radius #F4F2FF circle); callout 600 13px in #16133A; axis labels 400 11.5 to 13px; source 400 11.5px.

Layout:
- Header with the place name and context on the left and a row of single-letter day chips on the right with the selected day filled. Title and subtitle below, with a "LIVE NOW" chip on the right (176 x 62px, 16px radius, #1F1A4D fill, pink dot and value "86% vs 74% usual").
- Plot about x 72 to 888, y 262 to 500, legend and source on one line underneath.

Axes and grid:
- Dashed 1px #241F52 gridlines (2 on, 4 off) at 25%, 50% and 75% and a solid one at 100%, labels at the left in #6E68A8. Hour labels shortened to 6a, 9a, 12p, 3p, 6p, 9p, every third hour only; the current hour's label is pink and 600.

Marks:
- Bar chart: bars at 70% of the band with 7px top corners in the violet gradient. The current bar is solid #F472B6 with a soft pink glow behind it (blur 10, 35% opacity). A thin 1.5px dashed #E9E6FF line (4 on, 4 off) connects today's live estimates at each bar center up to now. At the current point, a pulse dot: a 15px pink halo at 16%, a 9.5px pink ring at 55% and a 5px solid pink dot; above it a fully rounded 28px pink pill with a small pointer reading "Now: busier than usual" (or "quieter than usual").
- Line chart: a 3px violet smoothed line with a violet gradient area, today's live values as the thin dashed #E9E6FF line, and the current point marked with the same pink pulse dot and pill.

Avoid: harsh white backgrounds, square bar tops, labeling every hour, more than one pink element group, and heavy axis lines.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the callout wording matches whether the live value is above or below typical, the pill does not cover the tallest bars, and the glow is not clipped.
