Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Listener Hours" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a friendly radio station audience report printed on warm peach stock. Rounded, soft and approachable, with one confident coral line doing all the work.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #FCEEE3 (pale peach) for the whole canvas.
- Main data color: #E25A3B (coral) for the line, the area fill, the eyebrow and the key figure in the callout.
- Ink: #3A2420 (cocoa) for the title, band labels, baseline, tick marks and a second presenter badge.
- Secondary text: #8A6B5E. Gridlines and period dividers: #EFD8C6.
- Period bands: alternate #F6D2C1 and #F3DCCB.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Rubik 600 for the title (36px, -0.5px letter-spacing, cocoa, stating the finding), the callout figure (17px coral) and badge initials (12px white).
- Nunito for everything else: eyebrow 12px 800 uppercase with 2px letter-spacing in coral, preceded by an 8px coral ring dot; subtitle 15px 600 #8A6B5E with measure, unit and period; band labels 13px 800 cocoa; axis labels 13px 600 #8A6B5E; callout label 13px 800 cocoa; footer 12px 600.

Layout:
- 56px side margins. Eyebrow at y 53, title at y 100, subtitle at y 128.
- A row of soft rounded bands (28px tall, fully rounded 14px radius, 4px gaps) at y 160 marks the named periods of the x domain (for a broadcast day: Breakfast, Midday, Drive, Evening; a smaller muted "Early" label for the lead-in). Each band's label is centered in it.
- Plot from x 88 to 900, top 212, baseline 492. Faint 1.2px #EFD8C6 dotted dividers (2 on, 5 off, round caps) drop from each band boundary to the baseline.
- Footer at y 572: "Source: ..." left in #8A6B5E, a small coral Rubik label (12px, 2px letter-spacing) right.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal 1px #EFD8C6 gridlines at round values with "10k"-style labels right-aligned 12px left of the plot. No y-axis line.
- A 1.5px cocoa baseline with 6px cocoa tick marks under each labeled x value; x labels 26px below the baseline in friendly form (6am, noon, midnight).

Marks:
- Line chart: one 4.5px coral line, monotone-smoothed, round joins and caps, over an area fill that fades from coral at 30% opacity at the plot top to 6% at the baseline. For extra series, use cocoa at 3px with no fill and label them at their line ends.
- Bar chart: coral bars with 8px rounded tops and square baselines, about 60% of the band, with the same period bands along the top; the highlighted bar gets the callout below instead of the dot.

Labels and annotation:
- Mark the peak with an 8px peach-filled dot with a 3.5px coral ring. A 1.2px cocoa leader runs right to a white callout card (75% opacity, 14px radius, 1.5px #F6D2C1 border, about 232 x 58) holding two overlapping 15px initials badges (coral, then cocoa with a 2px white ring) and two lines: "Breakfast peak, 08:15" in Nunito 13px 800 and the value in Rubik 17px coral.
- A second notable point gets a 5px solid coral dot and a 13px 800 cocoa label centered 16px above it.

Avoid: hard corners, cool grays, heavy borders, legends (label directly), more than one bright color, and dense gridlines.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the period bands line up exactly with their x ranges, the callout card clears the line, and the peak value and time in the callout match the data.
