Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Limit Move" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a futures trading terminal on a violent day. Black glass, hard boundaries in deep maroon, stop-the-clock gray columns, and one electric chartreuse line that you cannot miss.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Canvas: #0A0A0B. Plot panel: #111113.
- Boundary zones (beyond the limits or thresholds): hatched fill, #3E0E16 with 1.2px #5A1722 stripes every 8px at 45 degrees. Boundary lines: 1.4px #9A2A3A. Boundary labels: #D0606F.
- Main series: #C8F03C (chartreuse).
- Pause or event columns: #8A8F98 at 26% opacity, with a 1px solid #8A8F98 left edge and a solid #8A8F98 tag.
- Text: #EDEDEF primary, #8B8F97 secondary. Gridlines: #232428.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Rajdhani for the title (700, 38px, #EDEDEF), subtitle (500, 17px, #8B8F97) and footer note (500, 14px).
- Overpass Mono for every number and code: eyebrow 11.5px 500 uppercase with 1.4px letter-spacing, axis labels 12px, boundary labels 11px 600 with 1px letter-spacing, event tags 11.5px 700, point callouts 11.5px 600, the last-value tag 13.5px 700, source 11px uppercase.

Layout:
- A 4 x 64px chartreuse bar at x 40, y 38 next to the header block; eyebrow at y 54, title at y 94, subtitle at y 128, all starting at x 58.
- Plot panel from x 72 to x 836, y 196 to 520, with the y axis on the right (labels 10px right of the panel).
- Event tags sit just above the panel (20px tall, 84px wide) aligned to the left edge of their columns, whose edge line extends 10px above the panel.
- Footer rule (1px #232428) at y 558, note left and source right at y 582.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal gridlines only, 1px #232428, at round values. A reference level (prior close, target) as a 1px #8B8F97 dashed line (5 on, 4 off) with its label in 10.5px mono above it.
- Time labels in 12px mono under 6px ticks.

Marks:
- Line chart: a 1.8px chartreuse line with straight segments and round joins, plus a copy at 2.2px and 55% opacity under a 5px Gaussian glow. Break the line where there is no data (the gray pause columns). The last value gets a chartreuse arrow-shaped tag on the right axis (a point on the panel edge, 58px body, 24px tall) with the value in black mono, and "LAST" plus the signed change beneath it.
- Bar chart: slim square-cornered chartreuse bars (about 50% of the band) on the black panel, with bars that breach a boundary drawn in #9A2A3A instead, the same hatched boundary zones, and the latest bar's value in the arrow-shaped axis tag.

Avoid: rounded cards, gradients on the background, more than one bright color, legends (label directly), and letting the glow get clipped at the panel edges.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the line never enters the hatched zones unless the data does, the event tags do not collide with each other, and the last-value tag sits exactly at the last value.
