Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Likert Survey" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: the key figure in a research survey report. Clean, highly legible and balanced: disagreement runs left in earthy browns, agreement runs right in teals, and the net score is spelled out.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #FFFFFF.
- Response scale, from most negative to most positive: #7A4A12 (strongly disagree), #C99A5B (disagree), #E1E3E5 (neutral), #5FAFA6 (agree), #0E6B63 (strongly agree).
- Text: #1C2126 primary, #5E6770 secondary. Axis rule #D5D9DD, vertical guides #EEF0F2, row separators #F1F2F4.
- Net scores: #0E6B63 when zero or positive, #7A4A12 when negative.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Atkinson Hyperlegible throughout (400 and 700): title 700 28px stating the finding; subtitle 400 16px #5E6770 with sample size, unit and sort order; statements 400 15px in two lines of at most about 34 characters; legend 13.5px; segment percentages 700 13px; net scores 700 20px; the "NET AGREE" header 700 11.5px uppercase with 1.2px letter-spacing; axis ticks 13px; source 12px.

Layout:
- Statement labels left-aligned at x 48 in a column about 250px wide, vertically centered on their bar.
- Diverging bar area from about x 300 to 822, with the zero line placed so the longest left and right extents both fit (a -70% to +90% domain works for positive-leaning data).
- A right column ending at x 904 holding the net agreement per row, right-aligned, with the "NET AGREE" header above the first row.
- Legend on one row above the bars, centered on the zero line, with 14px swatches (2px radius).
- Rows on a 62px pitch, sorted by net agreement from highest to lowest.

Axes and grid:
- A 1.5px #1C2126 vertical zero line running the full height of the bars, drawn behind them so it never crosses a label.
- Faint 1px #EEF0F2 vertical guides every 20 points; a 1px #D5D9DD axis rule under the last row with tick labels showing absolute percentages on both sides ("40%", "20%", "0", "20%", ...).
- Beneath the axis, small directional cues: "Disagree" in 700 #7A4A12 with a left-pointing triangle, "Agree" in 700 #0E6B63 with a right-pointing triangle.

Marks:
- Bar chart: 36px tall stacked horizontal bars with square ends and 1px white separators between segments. Neutral is split evenly across the zero line; disagree segments stack leftward, agree rightward. Print the percentage inside any segment over 8% (white on the two darkest colors, #1C2126 on the rest), centered; the neutral label sits centered on the zero line.
- Line chart: plot net agreement over time as a 2.5px #0E6B63 line on a zero-centered y axis, with the area above zero tinted #5FAFA6 at 20% and below zero #C99A5B at 20%, a 1.5px #1C2126 zero line, round markers r 4 and net values labeled at the last point in the same 700 20px style.

Avoid: hiding neutral answers at one end, rainbow scales, 3D, percent labels crammed into narrow segments, shadows, and rounded bar ends.

When you're done, render the chart and check that each row sums to 100, the neutral segment is centered exactly on the zero line, the net scores equal agree plus strongly agree minus disagree minus strongly disagree, and no segment label spills outside its segment.
