Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Light Budget" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: an optical link budget on a network operations display. Dark, precise and luminous: a single glowing fiber-cyan trace inside a soft violet tolerance band, with a quiet red warning zone near the floor.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #0A0A1C (deep indigo-black). Gridlines: #252B4A. Axis line and ticks: #3A4270.
- Primary line and highlights: #3FE0F0 (fiber cyan).
- Tolerance or uncertainty band: #8B7CF6 (soft violet) at 22% fill opacity, with 0.8px edges at 55% opacity.
- Threshold zone: #FF5A6E, a vertical gradient from 4% to 20% opacity, with a 1.2px dashed (4 on, 4 off) line at the floor and its label in the same red.
- Primary text: #E8EAF6. Secondary text: #8A91B6. Readout box fill: #12132E.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Space Grotesk: title 700, 28px, -0.5px letter-spacing, #E8EAF6, stating the finding; subtitle 400, 14.5px, #8A91B6; legend 12.5px; source 12px.
- Space Mono for every number and technical label: eyebrow 11.5px uppercase in cyan with 1.6px letter-spacing; axis labels 11px; category numbers 700 11.5px #E8EAF6 with a second row of 10px #8A91B6 detail values (such as lengths in km) beneath; readouts 700 22px cyan.

Layout:
- Eyebrow at y 48, title y 84, subtitle y 110, flush left at x 56.
- Plot from x 104 to 884, y 150 to 452. Two rows of x labels under the axis, with small row headers ("SPAN", "km") right-aligned left of the plot.
- A legend row at y 530 (line, band swatch, ring) with a mono method note right-aligned, a hairline rule at y 552, source below.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal 1px #252B4A gridlines only, no vertical grid. Y labels in mono, the unit above the top label. The floor value labeled in red.

Marks:
- Line chart: a smoothed monotone curve, 2.5px cyan with round caps and a glow (Gaussian blur 5 merged over the stroke). Each intermediate point is a hollow ring (r 3.6, background fill, 1.5px cyan stroke); the start is a solid r 4.5 dot with a small mono label. The endpoint gets a blurred cyan halo (r 11, blur 10) under a solid r 5.5 dot, and a readout box (212 x 58, rx 4, #12132E, cyan border at 60%) placed above-left with a thin leader line, showing a small caption, the value in 22px glowing cyan and the margin to the threshold.
- Bar chart: slim cyan columns (about 40% of the band) with 1px glow, error whiskers drawn as the violet band style (22% opacity rectangles around each value), the last column carrying the glowing readout; the same red threshold zone and dashed floor.

Avoid: multiple line colors, heavy area fills, vertical gridlines, glows on text other than the main readout, filters clipped to element bounds (use full-canvas filter regions).

When you're done, render the chart and check that the glow is not clipped, the readout box does not cover the line, the threshold label is readable over the red zone, and the margin quoted in the title equals the endpoint minus the floor.
