Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Lift Interval" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: an experiment readout from a careful product analytics team. A boxed header states the test, hypothesis and result like a lab report; below it a calm sage results panel shows one estimate and its honest uncertainty.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #FFFFFF. Results panel: #F1F5EF (pale sage), a flat rectangle with square corners.
- Primary line, result numeral, eyebrow and status pill: #15803D (forest green).
- Confidence band fill: #C7E6CF at 90% opacity, with 1px edge lines in #7FBF8F.
- Charcoal #1F2A2E for the header border, title, zero line, significance marker and its label box.
- Secondary text #5E6B64. Gridlines and inner header rules #D5DDD3.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Instrument Sans: title 700 25px charcoal with -0.4px letter-spacing, stating the finding; subtitle 400 14px #5E6B64 with measure and unit; hypothesis 500 14px; result numeral 700 24px green; end label 700 16px green; annotation 400 italic 12.5px.
- Chivo Mono for every label: eyebrow 500 11px uppercase, 1.2px letter-spacing, green; field labels (HYPOTHESIS, RESULT) 400 10px uppercase with 1.2px letter-spacing in #5E6B64; axis ticks 11px; legend 11px; confidence interval text 12px charcoal; source 10.5px.

Layout:
- 40px side margins. A header box from y 28 to 138: white fill, 1.5px charcoal border, split by a 1px charcoal vertical rule about two thirds across. Left cell: eyebrow ("EXPERIMENT NT-212 ..."), title, subtitle. Right cell split by a 1px #D5DDD3 rule: HYPOTHESIS with one sentence above; RESULT with the latest estimate, its 95% CI in brackets beside it and a status pill (88 x 20, fully rounded, green fill, white 10px 600 mono "SIGNIFICANT") at the right.
- The sage panel runs from y 156 to 548 full width. A "RESULTS" label top left, then an inline legend: a 26 x 12 band swatch labeled "95% confidence interval" and a 26px 3px green stroke labeled with the series name.
- Plot inside the panel with about 64px on the left for tick labels. Footer below the panel: source left, test settings right, both mono 10.5px.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal gridlines only, 1px #D5DDD3, every 5 units. Tick labels signed ("+10", "−5") and right-aligned; the zero tick "0%" in 600 charcoal.
- Zero line: 2.5px solid charcoal across the full plot; it is the reference everything is judged against.
- X axis: a 1px #5E6B64 baseline with 5px ticks and sparse labels ("Day 1", "Day 7", "Day 14", "Day 21").

Marks:
- Line chart: the estimate as a 3px green line with straight segments and round joins, 2.6px green dots at each observation, and a final r 6 dot with a 2.5px white ring plus a 16px bold green end label. The confidence band is drawn behind it with monotone smoothed edges, narrowing as data accumulates.
- Bar chart: vertical green bars (#15803D, square corners, about 55% of the band) growing from the charcoal zero line, each with a 1.5px charcoal 95% interval whisker and 8px caps; negative bars hang below zero in the same green at 45% opacity. Put the panel, header and significance marker in the same places.

Labels and annotation:
- Mark the first period after which the interval stays above (or below) zero with a 1.5px charcoal dashed (5 4) vertical line through the plot, topped by a charcoal label box (88 x 22) reading "p < 0.05" in white 12px 600 mono. Tint the plot to its right with green at 5% opacity. Add a short italic note beside the marker explaining the rule.

Avoid: gradients, shadows, rounded panel corners, multiple accent colors, a legend box, smoothing the estimate line, and claiming significance on a day the interval still crosses zero.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the marker sits on the first day from which the lower bound stays above zero, the result numeral and CI in the header match the last point, and the header title does not touch the vertical divider.
