Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Lens Mix" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a tidy business review from a boutique optical practice. Warm paper, a confident geometric sans and four grown-up colors.

Colors (use these exact values), in stack order from the baseline up:
- Series 1: #1F3A5F (navy), label text #FFFFFF.
- Series 2: #2E8B84 (teal), label text #FFFFFF.
- Series 3: #D9BE8C (sand), label text #3B3222.
- Series 4: #C46F7E (rose), label text #FFFFFF.
- Page: #FAF7F2 (warm white). Main text #1E2533, secondary text #7A7468, rules #E4DDD1.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- League Spartan throughout: title 31px 700, -0.3px letter-spacing, #1E2533, stating the finding; subtitle 16px 400 #7A7468 naming measure, unit and source; legend 14.5px 500; segment labels 13.5px 600, one size in every segment (skip the label on a segment under 15px tall rather than shrinking it); category labels 15px 600; group (year) labels 14px 500 with 1.5px letter-spacing; y labels 13px 400; footer 12.5px.

Layout:
- 56px side margins. Title baseline 64, subtitle 92, a thin legend row at 134 (14px squares with 2px radius, labels 21px to their right, about 30px between items), then a full-width 1px #E4DDD1 rule at 150.
- Plot from x 104 to 904, y 168 to 488. Footer with the source at left and a one-line takeaway in teal at right.

Axes and grid:
- No gridlines except one dotted 0.8px #1E2533 line at 50% (2 on, 3 off, 45% opacity). y labels 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, 100% right-aligned 14px left of the plot. No axis lines.
- Category labels 24px under the baseline, and a 1px bracket under each group of categories with the group name centered below it.

Marks:
- Bar chart: 100% stacked columns 62px wide, square corners, a 1.5px page-colored hairline between segments. Every segment carries its percentage centered inside. Between neighboring columns, draw 1px connector lines in each series color (45% opacity) from the top of a segment in one column to the same boundary in the next, so shifting shares read as slopes.
- Line chart: a 100% stacked area in the same four colors and order, with 1.5px page-colored boundaries, percentage labels inside each band at the first and last points, the same legend row and year brackets.

Avoid: rounded bars, gradients, shadows, a boxed legend, gridlines at every step, and labels outside the bars.

When you're done, render the chart and check that each column sums to 100%, every segment label is the same size and fits inside its segment, label text contrasts with its segment, and the connector lines meet the segment edges exactly.
