Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Launch Window" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a figure from a spacecraft trajectory design review. Clean, exact and engineered: a white technical page, a pale gray plot field, deep navy data and one bright aerospace orange used to mark the region that matters (the window, the budget, the key dates).

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #FFFFFF. Plot field: #EEF1F4, a filled rectangle behind the data, with white (#FFFFFF) 1.2px gridlines drawn on top of it.
- Primary data and strong text: #0B2545 (deep navy).
- Accent: #F26A1B (aerospace orange) for the highlighted region, thresholds, dimension brackets, the section code box and key ticks. Nothing else is orange.
- Secondary text and tick labels: #5B6573 (slate). Minor ticks and document codes: #A7B0BC.

Typography (Google Fonts): Titillium Web throughout.
- Section code: 11.5px 700 uppercase, 1.2px letter-spacing, orange, inside a 58 x 20 px box with a 1.2px orange outline (for example "TRJ-04"). Beside it an eyebrow in 11.5px 600 uppercase with 2px letter-spacing in slate ("PROGRAM / DISCIPLINE"), and a figure number ("FIG. 3.2") right-aligned in the same style.
- Title: 30px 700 navy, sentence case, stating the finding with the key numbers or dates.
- Subtitle: 15px 400 slate, naming the measure, unit and what the shading means.
- Annotation labels: 11 to 12px 700 uppercase with 1.4 to 1.8px letter-spacing. Tick labels: 12.5 to 13px 600, x ticks uppercase with 1.2px letter-spacing. Callout values: 16px 600.
- Source: 12px 400 slate. Document code at bottom right: 11px 600 uppercase, 1.6px letter-spacing, #A7B0BC.

Layout:
- 56px outer margins. Header row at y about 50, title baseline about 94, subtitle about 120.
- Plot field from x 96 to 904, y 176 to 436. A rotated y-axis label ("DELTA-V, KM/S") in 11px 600 uppercase slate at x 40.
- A mission timeline strip under the x axis (around y 500), then a thin #EEF1F4 footer rule at y 562 with the source left and a document code right.

Axes and grid:
- Y tick labels right-aligned 12px left of the field, no y-axis line. Gridlines are white lines on the gray field, both horizontal (each y tick) and vertical (each x tick).
- X axis: a 1.4px navy baseline along the bottom of the field with 6px navy tick marks at each x tick and labels 24px below; first label left-aligned, last right-aligned.

Marks:
- Line chart: one 2.8px navy line with round joins and caps, straight segments at dense sampling (daily points). Mark the optimum with a white circle (r 6.5) with a 2.4px orange ring and a 2.6px navy center dot, a 1px dotted navy drop line (2 on, 3 off) down to the axis, and a centered label above: "OPTIMUM OCT 15" in 11.5px 700 caps and the value in 16px 600 navy.
- Bar chart: square-cornered navy bars about 55% of the band on the gray field; bars inside the highlighted range keep navy while the range itself gets the orange band behind them; the single best bar gets the orange ring treatment as a 2.4px orange outline plus the same stacked label above it.
- Highlighted region (the launch window or any qualifying range): an orange band at 13% opacity spanning the full field height, with 1.2px solid orange edges that rise 26px above the field.
- Threshold: a 1.4px orange dashed line (6 on, 4 off) with a label "BUDGET 4.0 KM/S" in 11px 700 orange caps just above its left end.

Labels and annotation:
- Dimension bracket above the field (16px above its top): a 1.2px orange line between the band edges with solid orange arrowheads (8px long, 8px tall) pointing outward to each edge, broken in the middle by a white box holding "WINDOW 72 DAYS" in 12px 700 orange caps, 1.8px letter-spacing.
- Band edge labels inside the field, 20px below its top: "OPENS SEP 9" left-aligned 9px inside the left edge and "CLOSES NOV 19" right-aligned 9px inside the right edge, 11.5px 700 navy caps.
- Mission timeline strip: a 4px #EEF1F4 track across the plot width with 10px #A7B0BC month ticks, the qualifying range as a 4px orange segment, the mission span as a 4px navy segment from launch to arrival, and 20px tall 2px orange ticks at launch and arrival with a 700 caps label and a 12px slate date below each. Label the strip "MISSION TIMELINE" at left and its date span at right, both 11px caps.

Avoid: drop shadows, gradients, rounded corners, a chart border, colored series beyond navy and orange, and a legend (label the band and markers directly).

When you're done, render the chart and check that the window dates and length in the title match the data, the orange band edges line up exactly with the dimension arrows, the optimum label clears the threshold line, and no label crosses the curve.
