Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Lane Timetable" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a friendly leisure-centre timetable screen. Soft white, a faint square tile grid like a pool floor, rounded pill-shaped bookings in four cheerful but calm colors, and a clear "now" line.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #F9FBFC with a 20px square tile grid in #E4EDF2 (1px lines) over the whole canvas.
- Categories (fill / 1px outline / label ink): lessons #F4845F / #D8603A / #4A1A08; club training #2A9D8F / #1E7A6F / #FFFFFF; public swim #8ECAE6 / #5A9FC0 / #113246; aqua fit #B8A1E3 / #8E72C6 / #2E1A57.
- Ink #1E3440; secondary text #62737D; hour gridlines #C9D7DF. The eyebrow uses #1E7A6F.

Typography (Google Fonts): Nunito throughout.
- Eyebrow 800 13px uppercase, 2px letter-spacing. Title 800 28px stating the finding. Subtitle 400 16px with measure and time span.
- Legend 700 13.5px with each category's total; hour labels 700 12.5px; row labels 800 11px inside white pills; in-bar labels 700 12px; now label 800 12.5px white; source 12px.

Layout:
- 48px left margin. Eyebrow y 58, title y 96, subtitle y 122. A compact legend at y 146 to 160 aligned with the plot start: 22 x 14 pills (7px radius) with outline, then the label.
- Plot from x 110 to 912 spanning the hours; eight rows 40px apart starting at y 212. Row labels ("Lane 1") in white 46 x 24 pills with a 1px #C9D7DF border at x 48.

Axes and grid:
- Vertical hour lines: every third hour 1px solid #C9D7DF, other hours 0.6px dashed 2 on 4 off. Labels every two hours above the plot ("6am", "noon", "2pm").
- No horizontal gridlines; the tile grid provides rhythm.

Marks:
- Bar chart: floating range bars 26px tall, fully rounded (13px radius), inset 2px at each end so adjacent bookings separate, with a 1px darker outline of the same hue. A short left-aligned label inside each bar when it fits (12px padding).
- Line chart: 3px lines in the four category colors with round caps, each line drawn over a 10px wide translucent (20%) track of the same color, labels at line ends in the category's darker outline color.
- A vertical current-time line: 2px ink with a 4px dot at the top, ending in a 92 x 22 fully rounded ink pill under the rows reading "Now 3:15pm".

Avoid: square corners, drop shadows, gradients, dark backgrounds, relying on sky versus lilac color alone (keep the in-bar labels).

When you're done, render the chart and check that every booking pill is separated from its neighbors, the in-bar labels don't overflow, the now line doesn't hide a label, and the legend totals add up to the total in the title.
