Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Lab Trends" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a dark clinical results viewer in a veterinary practice system. Four calm cards, each a tiny trend of one lab value over its reference band, with anything abnormal flagged in coral.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #1A2129 (dark slate). Panel cards: #212A34.
- Data line and in-range markers: #9CC7F0 (pale blue). Out-of-range markers, values and flags: #FF7F66 (coral).
- Reference band: #1F4A3A at 75% opacity with a 1px #3E8E6C upper edge. In-range pill text #7FD1A8 on #3E8E6C at 22%.
- Ink #E6EDF3, secondary #8B98A6, gridlines #2C3743.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Geologica throughout. Header 11.5px 500 uppercase with 1.6px letter-spacing; title 27px 700 with -0.3px letter-spacing; subtitle 14.5px 300 in #8B98A6.
- Panel name 15px 600 ink; latest value 28px 700 (coral if out of range, pale blue otherwise) with the unit as a 12px #8B98A6 suffix; reference text 11.5px; status pill 11px 600; tick labels 10 to 10.5px.

Layout:
- 40px margins. Header, title, subtitle, then a one-row key (reference swatch, ringed dot "In range", coral dot "Out of range").
- A 2 x 2 grid of cards, 432 x 190 each with 16px gaps and radius 10. In each card the left 150px holds the name, latest value, reference interval and a status pill; the mini chart fills the rest with tick labels on its left and visit dates below.
- Source bottom left and a caveat ("Reference intervals vary by laboratory") bottom right.

Axes and grid:
- Each panel has its own y scale starting at zero with 3 or 4 faint 1px #2C3743 gridlines; no axis lines. Date labels 10px centered under each visit.

Marks:
- Line chart: 2.2px pale blue straight-segment line. In-range points are hollow (r 4.5, card-colored fill, 2px pale blue ring); out-of-range points are solid coral (r 5.5) with a 1.5px card-colored ring. The reference interval is a filled band spanning the plot width.
- Bar chart: small multiples of 16px wide pale blue bars with 3px rounded tops over the same reference band, bars outside the range filled coral.
- Status pill: coral at 16% fill with coral text ("High, 2 visits") when the latest value is out of range, otherwise the green "In range" pill.

Avoid: a shared y axis across panels, neon glows, gradients, red-green only encodings (keep the hollow versus solid marker difference), and light backgrounds.

When you're done, render the chart and check that exactly the out-of-range points are coral, the pill counts match, the title's count of abnormal panels is right, and the unit suffix sits snugly after the big number.
