Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Isobar" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a meteorologist's storm-desk display. A dark navy surface-analysis map sits faintly behind a single thin white trace, with the classic red L and blue H marking the extremes.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Canvas: #0B1A2E (dark navy). Plot area: #0F2138. Plot border and gridlines: #2A4262, 1px.
- Main trace: #F2F5F8. Decorative contours and the event band's dashed edges: #8FB4D9 (pale blue) at low opacity.
- Low marker and its label: #F0645E. High marker and its label: #6AAEF2.
- Event band (for example a frontal passage): #1C3657 at 0.85 opacity. Secondary text: #8797AD.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- IBM Plex Sans for the title (600, 28px, #F2F5F8, stating the finding), subtitle (15px, #8797AD, measure, unit and period), axis labels (13px with tabular figures, #8797AD), the unit label (12px 600) and the L and H glyphs (700, 40px). Extreme values 14px 600 in the marker color.
- IBM Plex Sans Condensed for the kicker (600, 12px, 2.4px letter-spacing, uppercase, #8797AD), the band label (600, 11px, 1.6px letter-spacing), time labels (500, 13px, #F2F5F8), day labels (11px, uppercase, 1px letter-spacing, #8797AD) and the timestamps under the extremes (12px, #8797AD).

Layout:
- 56px left margin. Kicker at y 44, title at y 82, subtitle at y 110.
- Plot from x 56 to 852 and y 168 to 486, with the value axis on the right (labels 12px outside, unit label above the top one). Source at y 572, station id right-aligned.

Axes and grid:
- Gridlines only every 10 units (hPa), 1px #2A4262. No left axis.
- Time ticks every 6 hours below the plot (7px major every 12 hours, 4px minor), times like "12:00" and the day name and date under each midnight.

Texture:
- Behind everything in the plot, 13 wavy horizontal contour curves, 1px #8FB4D9 at 0.13 opacity, bending gently around the middle, plus three nested rotated ellipses (0.16, 0.13, 0.10 opacity) like a pressure centre. Clip them to the plot.

Marks:
- Line chart: a smooth (monotone) 1.8px #F2F5F8 line with a soft glow: the same path at 5px, 0.18 opacity, blurred with stdDeviation 2.5. Mark the minimum with a 4px red dot, a bold red "L" just below and to the right, and its value and timestamp beside it; mark the later maximum with a 4px blue dot, a bold blue "H" below it and its value and timestamp to the right.
- Bar chart: slim bars (about 45% of the band) in #F2F5F8 at 0.85 opacity with square corners, over the same contour texture; the lowest bar filled #F0645E with an "L" label and the highest filled #6AAEF2 with an "H" label.
- Event band: a full-height rectangle with 0.8px dashed (2 on, 3 off) #8FB4D9 edges at 0.5 opacity and a small uppercase label at its top.

Avoid: thick lines, area fills under the trace, bright gridlines, more than the two extreme colors, and contours strong enough to compete with the data.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the L and H sit exactly on the true minimum and later maximum, their timestamps match, the contours stay faint and clipped to the plot, and the title's fall and rebound values match the data.
