Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Inventory Cover" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a merchandise planner's stock health sheet. Very dark olive, pale khaki stems and traffic-light heads that say at a glance which lines need attention.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #1B1E13 (very dark olive). Primary text: #EEEBD9. Ordinary category labels: #CFCBB3. Secondary text: #9C9A80. Footer: #77775F. Vertical gridlines: #34382A.
- Stems and the zero axis: #BDB58C (pale khaki).
- Heads by status: #8CC084 (healthy, inside the target), #E2B04A (excessive, above it), #E9806B (thin, below it).
- Target band: #8CC084 at 9% opacity with 1px dashed edges (3 on 3) in the same green at 45% opacity.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Red Hat Display for the headline (700, 27px, -0.3px letter-spacing, stating the finding), subtitle (400, 16px, muted), legend (500, 14px) and category labels (14.5px, 500, or 700 in #EEEBD9 for the rows that need action).
- Red Hat Mono for every figure: value labels (600, 13.5px, in the head color), axis ticks (13px), the "TARGET BAND" tag (500, 11.5px, 1.6px letter-spacing, green), the "REORDER" tag (600, 10.5px) and the source (12px).

Layout:
- 56px side margins. Headline, subtitle, then a legend row of status dots with counts ("Thin, under 20 days (4)").
- Category labels right-aligned 18px left of the zero axis, which sits at about x 244; the scale runs to x 860 with a "days" unit after the last tick.
- Rows at 25px pitch, sorted from largest to smallest value.

Axes and grid:
- A 1.5px khaki zero axis. Faint 1px vertical gridlines at every 10 units, replaced by the dashed band edges at the target limits. Tick labels under the last row. No horizontal gridlines.

Marks:
- Bar chart: a lollipop per row: a 2px khaki stem from zero to 7px short of the value, and an r 7 head in its status color. The value sits 14px right of the head in the same color. On thin rows, add a pill (78 x 18px, 9px radius, #E9806B at 14% opacity) holding a small two-arrow circular reorder icon (1.6px stroke) and the word "REORDER".
- Line chart: a 2.5px khaki line with r 6 point heads colored by status, over the same shaded target band drawn horizontally, and reorder pills beside points below the band.

Avoid: saturated primaries, thick stems, heads without direct values, unsorted rows, and a light background.

When you're done, render the chart and check that every head color matches its row's position against the band, the headline and legend counts agree with the data, and reorder pills never cover a neighboring label.
