Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Instrument Cluster" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a car's digital instrument cluster. A deep gray-black face inside a thin chrome ring, soft white readouts, a red redline zone with a gentle glow, and a gear indicator strip along the bottom.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Surround: #050506. Face: radial gradient from #17191C at center to #0D0E10 at the edges, in a 40px-radius rounded rectangle.
- Chrome ring: 2px stroke with a diagonal gradient alternating #D9DDE1 and #4B5056 (stops at 0, 30, 55, 80, 100%). An inner 1px white line at 5% opacity 8px inside it.
- Trace and primary text: #E8ECEF. Dim labels: #7C838A. Gridlines: #23262A.
- Redline: #E5383B for the limit line, the zone, the peak needle and the peak readout.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Exo 2 throughout with tabular figures. Eyebrow 600 12px uppercase 2.4px letter-spacing dim; title 500 25px white; subtitle 400 14px dim; readout labels 600 9.5px uppercase 1.4px letter-spacing; readout values 600 22px; tach-style y labels 600 14px; time labels 500 12px; gear numerals 700 13px.

Layout:
- Title block top left. Three readout pills top right (84 x 70px, radius 12, #121417 fill, 1px chrome-gradient stroke): PEAK in red, then two white values.
- Plot below, then the gear strip directly under the baseline, then time labels, then the source (left) and axis title (right).

Axes and grid:
- Y axis as a tachometer scale in thousands (0 to 8) with 8px major ticks and 4px half ticks just left of the plot; labels at 7 and above in red. A small "x1000 r/min" unit above.
- Horizontal 1px #23262A gridlines, a 1px dim baseline. No vertical grid.

Marks:
- Line chart: a 1.8px #E8ECEF trace with round joins and a soft glow (Gaussian blur 2.2 merged under the source). The redline zone above the limit is a red vertical gradient (38% to 8% opacity) with a 1.5px glowing red limit line and a "REDLINE 6,500" label (700 11px, 1.6px letter-spacing) right-aligned above it. Mark the peak with a 2px red needle from the baseline to the point (blur 5 glow) and an r 4.5 red dot.
- Bar chart: slim vertical bars in #E8ECEF at 85% opacity with 2px rounded tops, any bar in the red zone filled #E5383B with glow; the red zone and tach-style axis stay the same; values in 600 12px above bars.
- Gear strip: 24px tall segments with 4px radius and 2px gaps, #181B1E fill and #2E3237 stroke, dim numerals; the top gear segment in #2A2E33 with a 1px chrome stroke and white numeral. A "GEAR" label to the left.
- Glow filters use userSpaceOnUse bounds covering the whole canvas so nothing clips.

Avoid: bright colors besides red, thick lines, fake 3D gauges, busy textures, big blurry glows over text.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the readouts are computed from the data, the glow is soft and unclipped, the chrome ring reads as metal, and gear segments line up exactly with the time axis.
