Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Hotel Letterhead" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a page on a grand old hotel's engraved letterhead. Cream laid paper, an engraved monogram at the top, bottle green ink, one touch of gold, and numbers set in elegant old-style figures. Quiet, formal and hospitable.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Paper: #F7F1E3 (cream), with faint vertical chain lines every 26px in #7A7263 at 6% opacity.
- Primary ink and data marks: #1F4D3A (deep bottle green).
- Gold accent: #B8964E, used only for the leader's keyline, its share figure and the small diamond on the header rule.
- Body text: #2A2A26. Secondary text: #7A7263. Bar tracks: #EAE1CC at 55% opacity.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Playfair Display SC for the title (700, 30px, #2A2A26, left-aligned, stating the finding), the hotel name under the monogram (400, 15px, 7px letter-spacing, green), column heads and the footer mark (400, 11.5 to 12px, 2.2 to 2.4px letter-spacing).
- Libre Baskerville for the subtitle (italic 14.5px #7A7263), category labels (400 14px #2A2A26, 700 for the leader), the address line (italic 11.5px) and the source (italic 12px).
- Playfair Display for numbers, always with old-style figures (font-variant-numeric: oldstyle-nums proportional-nums): values 500 17px #2A2A26 (700 green for the leader), shares italic 15px #7A7263 (gold for the leader).

Layout:
- Letterhead centered at the top: a monogram at (480, 58) made of a 31px-radius circle (1.6px green), an inner 27px circle (0.6px), and 36 short radial engraving ticks from radius 31 to 34.5 (0.7px); inside, the two initials overlapped, one as a 0.9px outline and one solid, both Playfair Display SC 26px. Hotel name at y 120, a one-line italic address at y 140.
- A 0.9px green rule at y 160 from x 96 to 864, broken at the center by a 10px gold diamond.
- Title at y 210 and subtitle at y 236, both from x 96.
- Footer: a 0.9px green rule at y 538, the source on the left and an uppercase small-caps office line on the right at y 564.

Axes and grid:
- No gridlines and no value axis. A single 1px green vertical baseline where the bars start. Each row sits on a faint full-width track and rows are separated by 0.6px #7A7263 hairlines at 18% opacity.
- A right-aligned "SHARE" column at x 864 showing each row's percentage of the total.

Marks:
- Bar chart: horizontal bars 17px tall on a 36px row pitch, square corners, solid bottle green, sorted largest first, starting at x 272 with category labels right-aligned 14px to their left. Values follow each bar end 8px after it (12px for the leader). The leading bar gets a 1.4px gold keyline drawn 3px outside it on all sides.
- Line chart: a 2px bottle green line with straight segments and 3.5px green dots with a 1.5px cream ring; the highest point gets a 1.4px gold ring 3px outside its dot and its value in 700 green old-style figures. Faint 0.6px hairline gridlines at 18% opacity instead of tracks.

Avoid: bright colors, gradients, shadows, rounded corners, lining figures in the data values, more than one gold element per data series, and a crowded letterhead.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the figures are genuinely old-style (varying heights), the monogram is centered and crisp, only the leader carries gold, and the shares add up to 100%.
