Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Hot Hand" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a near-black shooting tracker on a team analytics screen. Tall condensed headline, one flame-orange line, warm fills for hot stretches and cool fills for cold ones.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #0F0F12.
- Main line and eyebrow: #FF6B35 (flame), 2.8px, over a soft 7px copy at 25% opacity blurred 4px.
- Above-band fill: #FF8A5C at 38% opacity. Below-band fill: #5AA9E6 at 32% opacity.
- Benchmark band: #9A9AA6 at 16% opacity with a dashed center line (3 on, 4 off) at 70%.
- Title text: #F2EFEA. Secondary text: #8A8A94. Gridlines: #222228.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Teko 600 42px uppercase for the title, stating the finding.
- Karla for everything else: eyebrow 700 12px uppercase with 2.2px letter-spacing in flame; subtitle 400 15px #8A8A94; tick labels 13 to 14px; annotation labels 700 12px uppercase with 1.2px letter-spacing (peak in #FF8A5C, low in #5AA9E6); band label 700 11px uppercase in #9A9AA6.

Layout:
- 48px margins. Eyebrow at y 50, title at y 98, subtitle at y 126. Main plot from x 84 to 880 and y 158 to 440. A strip of per-period ticks below it from y 450 to 510, then x labels, then a legend row at y 572 with the season total and source right-aligned.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal gridlines every 5 units, 1px #222228, labels every 10 with a percent sign. No axis lines. The benchmark band spans the full plot width and is labeled at its top-left.

Marks:
- Line chart: straight segments with round joins. Fill between the line and the band's top edge where the line is above it (flame orange tint) and between the line and the band's bottom edge where it is below (cool blue tint), using clip regions so fills never enter the band. Mark the maximum and minimum with 5px dots ringed 2px in the page color and uppercase labels. Along the base, stack 5 x 5 px flame squares (7px pitch) per period for the count behind the rate, at 60% opacity, full opacity for standout periods, and a thin gray dash for zero.
- Bar chart: vertical bars per period in #9A9AA6 at 40% opacity, with bars above the band in solid #FF6B35 and below it in #5AA9E6, the same benchmark band behind them and the same tick strip.

Avoid: rainbow heat scales, gradients across the line, more than the two fill colors, and a legend box (use a single legend row at the bottom).

When you're done, render the chart and check that the fills only appear outside the band, the title's streak length and low point match the data, and the glow is not clipped.
