Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Hedgerow Jars" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: the sales board of a small preserves kitchen. Rich and cheerful but grown-up: deep berry ground, fruit-toned stacks split by thin cream seams like jar lids, a sturdy high-contrast serif headline and friendly rounded labels.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #2A1320 (deep berry) for the whole canvas.
- Categories in this order: #7D4E8C (damson plum), #D2455E (raspberry), #F2A65A (apricot), #A9C46C (gooseberry). Put the darkest, #7D4E8C, at the bottom of stacks so it sits on the baseline rather than floating against the dark ground.
- Cream #F4E9D8 for the title, key labels and the seams between segments. Secondary text #BFA3AE. Gridlines and footer rule #3F2233; the baseline #BFA3AE. Eyebrow in #F2A65A.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Yeseva One 400: title 34px #F4E9D8 stating the finding; footer note 14px #BFA3AE.
- Mulish for everything else: eyebrow 11.5px 800 uppercase with 2.6px letter-spacing; subtitle 15.5px 500 #BFA3AE naming measure and unit; axis labels 12px (y) and 12.5px 500 (x); totals 11.5px 600 #BFA3AE; category labels 13px 700 #F4E9D8; note heading 11px 800 uppercase with 2.4px letter-spacing; note text 12px italic.

Layout:
- 56px side margins. Eyebrow at y 52, title at y 96, subtitle at y 126. Plot from x 96 to x 790, y 214 to 512; the space right of the last bar holds the category labels.
- Footer rule at y 556; "Source: ..." left and a Yeseva One note (such as the yearly total) right, at y 578.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal 0.8px #3F2233 gridlines at round values with comma-formatted labels right-aligned 14px left of the plot; a 1px #BFA3AE baseline. No vertical axis line, no ticks.
- Highlight a season with a full-height rectangle behind the bars in #F4E9D8 at 4.5% opacity, extending 68px above the plot, with an uppercase heading and a one-line italic note centered at its top (the note must be arithmetically true).

Marks:
- Bar chart: stacked vertical bars 36px wide in 58px slots, square at the baseline, only the top segment with 4px rounded corners. Separate segments with 1.6px #F4E9D8 seams. Each bar's total sits 8px above it; the peak bar's total and month label are 13.5px 800 #F4E9D8. Label each category once, right of the last bar, centered on its segment, with an 8px round swatch 12px after the bar and the name 14px after the swatch. No legend box.
- Line chart: 2.5px smooth lines in the four fruit colors with r 4 dots filled in the series color and a 1.5px #F4E9D8 ring; each line labeled at its right end with the same swatch-plus-name label. Stack as areas only if the data is part-to-whole, keeping the same cream seams between bands.

Avoid: gradients, glossy jar or fruit illustrations, pure white, a boxed legend, rotated labels, and seams thicker than 2px.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the totals and peak note match the data, the seams read as thin cream lines between every segment, the plum segments stay visible on the berry background, and the right-hand labels do not collide.
