Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Halo Lit" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: reverse channel lettering in a concert hall's donor lobby. Brushed bronze forms stand off a dark honed stone wall and throw a warm halo onto it. Elegant, hushed and generous with space.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Stone wall: #16161A, with a radial lift to #26252B at the top center and #0E0E11 at the far edges, plus fine grain: fractal noise (base frequency 0.9, 2 octaves) tinted gray at 9% opacity.
- Stone joints: 1.5px #0A0A0C lines with a 0.8px #2A2A30 highlight beside them (one horizontal joint under the plaque, one vertical joint above it).
- Bronze: #9C7A4E. Bar gradient top to bottom #C4A273, #9C7A4E, #7A5C36, #5E4527, with a 0.8px #E6CB9C edge at 35% opacity and faint horizontal brushing (white at 8%, black at 12%).
- Halo: warm white #FFE9C4.
- Text: #EFE3CF for the title and the leading label, #B9A88E for other labels, #6E6557 for the footer. Value numerals in bronze #9C7A4E, the leading one lighter #D9B77F.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Tenor Sans throughout. Title 28px with 0.6px letter-spacing, centered, stating the finding. Subtitle 12px uppercase with 3.2px letter-spacing. Category names 13px uppercase with 2.6px letter-spacing, right-aligned 28px left of the bars. Values 17px with 0.8px letter-spacing, 22px after each bar. Footer 11px uppercase, 2.4px letter-spacing.

Layout:
- Title plaque: an 832 x 104 rectangle at (64, 44) filled #1B1B20 with a 1.2px bronze border and a second hairline bronze border 6px inside at 35% opacity. Title baseline y 88, subtitle y 120, both centered.
- Bars start at x 318 with a 1px bronze vertical rule (40% opacity) at their base; the longest bar ends near x 842. Rows every 54px starting at y 214.
- Footer at y 566: source on the left, a small uppercase place name on the right.

Axes and grid:
- No axis, no gridlines, no ticks: each bar carries its value.

Marks:
- Bar chart: horizontal bars 24px tall with fully rounded ends (radius 12), in the bronze gradient. Behind each bar draw two halos: a wide one (bar padded 10px left and right and 6 to 12px above and below, #FFE9C4 at 50%, blur 14) and a tight one (padded 2px, 1 to 3px lower, #FFE9C4 at 80%, blur 3), so light seems to spill from behind a form standing off the wall.
- Line chart: a 5px bronze line with round caps, drawn with the same bronze gradient feel, with the same two-layer halo behind the line path (wide 50% blur 14 at 14px width, tight 80% blur 3 at 7px). Small r 5 bronze discs at points, and values in 17px bronze numerals above the key points.

Effects:
- All blurs use a filter region covering the whole canvas so the halos never clip.

Avoid: shiny chrome highlights, saturated gold, drop shadows below the bars (the light comes from behind), gridlines, bold weights, busy stone veining.

When you're done, render the chart and check that every bar has an even halo on all sides, the stone grain stays subtle, the tracked uppercase labels do not collide with the halos, and the percentages in the title match the data.
