Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Habitat Gain" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: an ecologist's biodiversity net gain summary on deep moss. Clear before-and-after comparison, one bright living green for the result, small outlined tags and delicate line icons for each habitat.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #16201A (deep moss).
- Before / baseline series: #7D8580 (muted gray). After / result series: #7BD46A (bright leaf green).
- Icons: #A9B8A6. Grid: #243129. Baseline: #4A5A4E. Secondary text: #8E9A90. Labels: #D5DDD3. Title: #F0F4EE.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- DM Serif Display for the title (38px, sentence case, stating the overall finding).
- Figtree for everything else: eyebrow 12px 600 uppercase with 2.4px letter-spacing in leaf green; subtitle 15px #8E9A90 with measure, unit and the totals; legend 14px 500; axis labels 13px; before values 13px 500 #8E9A90; after values 14px 700 leaf green; tags 14px 700 leaf green; category names 14px 600 #D5DDD3; source 12px.

Layout:
- 48px margins; eyebrow, title and subtitle top left, legend top right (14px squares with 2px radius). Plot from x 92 to 904, y 176 to 440, unit ("Units") above the y labels.
- Under each category: a thin line icon (about 30px wide, 1.4px #A9B8A6 stroke, round caps, no fill) 30px below the baseline and the category name 64px below it. Draw icons for the subject (for habitats: grass blades, three wave lines for water, a scalloped hedge mound, two round trees, two small scrub mounds, each on a short ground line).

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal 1px #243129 grid lines, no vertical grid, a 1.2px #4A5A4E baseline, y labels left.

Marks:
- Bar chart: paired bars per category (46px wide, 6px apart), 3px top corner radius, before in gray on the left and after in leaf green on the right. Values 8px above each bar. Above each pair, 50px over the after bar top, an outlined pill tag (24px tall, full radius, page-colored fill, 1.2px leaf green stroke) showing the net change from that category's own baseline, like "+70%".
- Line chart: the before series as a 2px #7D8580 line with hollow 4px dots and the after series as a 3px #7BD46A line with solid 5px dots; at each category a thin vertical connector between the two dots and the outlined gain tag above the after dot; the same icons along the x axis.

Avoid: more than two series colors, glows, gradients, 3D, filled icons and tags that overlap the value labels.

When you're done, render the chart and check that every tag's percentage is after divided by before minus one, the title's overall percentage uses the totals, the icons are centered under their pairs and nothing overlaps.
