Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Guest Mix" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: an interview show's season review on a deep maroon page. Warm, editorial and a little celebratory: a soft-serif headline and four candy pastels that glow against the dark.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #22101A (deep maroon), with a 6px #F29CB5 strip across the very top.
- Categories, in this stacking order: #F29CB5 (pink), #E8C872 (pale gold), #B8A6E8 (lavender), #9ED9C0 (mint). Keep this order: it keeps every adjacent pair distinguishable for color-blind readers.
- Text: #F7E9EF primary, #B394A3 secondary. Gridlines: #6E4A5C at 70% opacity. Labels inside segments: #22101A.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Fraunces 600 (optical size axis on) for the title, 33px #F7E9EF, -0.4px letter-spacing, stating the finding.
- Hanken Grotesk for everything else: eyebrow 12px 600 uppercase with 2.6px letter-spacing in #B394A3; subtitle 16px 400; key 13.5px 600 with each name in its own category color after a 10px rounded square; row labels 15px 700 with a 12px 400 count below; segment labels 13.5px 700; axis labels 12px; footnote 12px italic.

Layout:
- 56px margins. Eyebrow at y 54, title at y 100, subtitle at y 128, a compact text key at y 168 aligned to the bars' left edge.
- Row labels in a left column from x 56; bars from x 170 to 884. Rows start at y 214 with a 52px pitch and 34px bar height.
- Footer at y 572: source left, an italic rounding note right.

Axes and grid:
- Vertical gridlines at 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100%: solid at the ends, dotted (2 on, 4 off) between, drawn behind the bars; percent labels 14px below the last row. No horizontal axis line.

Marks:
- Bar chart: 100% stacked horizontal bars, each bar clipped to a 7px rounded rectangle, segments separated by 2px gaps of background. Percent labels centered inside segments of 6% or more in dark maroon; smaller segments unlabeled.
- Line chart: 3px lines in the same four pastels with 5px dots, each series labeled at its right end in its color, on the same maroon page and vertical-gridline treatment (horizontal gridlines for the value axis).

Avoid: saturated primaries, white segment labels on pastels, outlines around segments, a separate boxed legend, and reordering the categories between rows.

When you're done, render the chart and check that each bar sums to 100%, segment labels fit inside their segments, and the title numbers match the first and last rows.
