Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Grow Light" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: the control screen of an indoor vertical farm at night. Dark violet room, pink-magenta grow light bleeding in from one corner, crisp wide geometric type.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #16101F (very dark violet).
- Light wash: a radial gradient centered just off the top-left corner (about 40, -20), radius 620 x 420px, from #C23FB0 at 42% opacity through #6A2FA8 at 20% (45% stop) to transparent.
- Primary series: #E063C8 (pinkish magenta). Second measure: #A6E3A1 (pale leaf green).
- Off periods: #0B0812 bands at 85% opacity. Ink: #F2EAF7. Secondary text: #A89BB8. Gridlines: #2E2440. Chips: #2A1B38 fill with a #5B3A70 1px border.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Unbounded throughout. Eyebrow 11px 500 uppercase with 2.4px letter-spacing in magenta. Title 26px 600 #F2EAF7 stating the finding. Subtitle 12.5px 300 #A89BB8 naming both measures and their units. Panel labels 11px 600 uppercase with 1.4px letter-spacing, each in its series color. Axis labels 10.5 to 11px 300. Chip text 10.5px 500. Band label 9.5px 500 uppercase, 1.6px letter-spacing, #7D6F90.

Layout:
- 56px left margin. Eyebrow at y 52, title at y 90, subtitle at y 118.
- Two measures with different units never share a plot and never get a second y axis: stack two panels on one shared time axis (x 104 to 904). Upper panel for the primary measure (y 170 to 350), lower panel for the second measure (y 402 to 506), each with its own left labels.
- Off-period bands run through both panels (from 16px above the upper panel to the bottom of the lower one), with one "LIGHTS OFF" label at the top of a band.
- Time labels under the lower panel every 6 hours; day starts ("DAY 1", "DAY 2") in 600 ink.

Axes and grid:
- 1px #2E2440 horizontal gridlines at round steps, labels right-aligned 12px left of the plot. No axis lines. 6px #5A4B6E ticks at each time label.

Marks:
- Line chart: the primary measure is a stepped line (hold each value until the next change) 2.4px #E063C8 with a glow underneath (6px stroke, 55% opacity, Gaussian blur 4, filter region set to the full canvas) and a 10% magenta fill down to zero. The second measure is a 2.2px smooth #A6E3A1 line with a filled end dot (r 3.5) and a ring marker at its peak labeled with its value.
- Summary chips: rounded pill chips (24px tall, 12px radius) inside the upper panel stating a per-period total such as daily light integral; keep them clear of the line and any notches.
- Bar chart: vertical bars in #E063C8 with a soft magenta glow, 2px top radius; off periods as the same dark bands behind the bars; a second measure goes in its own panel below as #A6E3A1 bars or dots, never on a second axis.

Avoid: a dual y axis, neon everywhere (only the primary line glows), pure black, rainbow colors, and text placed inside the glow.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the glow is not clipped, both panels share the same time scale, the chips and annotations do not touch the line, and the headline difference is computed from the data.
