Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Grid Frequency" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a live trend display in a transmission control room. Dark, calm and exact: a thin cool-white trace inside a dim green operating band, amber only where something went wrong, big digital readouts across the top.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #0C1418. Readout tiles: #111D22 with a 1px #1C2A30 border, 3px radius. Gridlines: #1C2A30.
- Main trace and normal readout values: #E6EEF2 (cool white).
- Tolerance band: #1F4A36 at 70% opacity, its edges 1px #2F6B50 and edge labels #6FB08E.
- Excursions, event markers and alert readouts: #F0A33A (amber).
- Labels and secondary text: #7F929A. Title: #F2F6F8.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Rajdhani for the eyebrow (13px 600 uppercase, 2.4px letter-spacing, #7F929A), title (27px 700), subtitle (15px 500), readout keys (12px 600 uppercase, 2px letter-spacing), units and the LIVE tag (12px 700, 1.6px letter-spacing).
- Share Tech Mono for every number: readout values 32px, axis labels 13px, event labels 12px amber, the current-value tag 12px.

Layout:
- Eyebrow at y 50, title at y 84, subtitle at y 108, all at x 40.
- A row of four 208 x 68 readout tiles at y 128, 14px apart: key top-left, value in large mono below it, unit right-aligned in the tile.
- Plot from x 76 to 884 and y 232 to 500, with time labels 22px below and a footer line at y 560: the source at left, a mono amber summary stat at right.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal gridlines at round values, 1px #1C2A30; the target value dashed (4 4). Band edges 1px #2F6B50 with green labels. Vertical gridlines at regular time steps.
- The time axis reads like a scrolling display: a 56px gradient on the left plot edge fading from the background (85% opacity) to transparent over the oldest data, and a 1px cool-white "now" cursor at the right edge with "LIVE" above it and the latest value tag beside a 3.5px dot.

Marks:
- Line chart: a 1.2px #E6EEF2 trace with straight segments. Where it leaves the band, fill between the trace and the band edge in #F0A33A at 45% opacity and redraw that part of the trace 1.6px amber (clip both to the region beyond the band edge). Events get a dotted (2 3) amber vertical rule, a small amber downward triangle above the plot and a mono label ("TRIP G-14 620 MW 14:13:20").
- Bar chart: thin square-cornered bars in #E6EEF2 at 85% opacity on the dark ground with the tolerance band drawn behind them; bars that fall outside the band turn solid #F0A33A, and event markers work the same way.

Avoid: glow effects, gradients other than the scroll fade, thick lines, rounded shapes, more than one alert color, and amber on anything that is within tolerance.

When you're done, render the chart and check that amber appears only outside the band, the readouts and title agree with the data, the event labels do not collide, and the fade does not hide any annotated feature.
