Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Glucose Curves" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a clean figure from a nutrition feeding study. White, precise and quietly clinical, with warm food colors that are easy to tell apart and every series named at its most important point.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #FFFFFF (white). Plot has no background panel.
- Series, in order: #D9534A (tomato), #C9A13B (wheat gold), #4E9A55 (leafy green). Add more only if needed, keeping them food-like and well separated.
- Primary ink (title, axis line, baseline, value text): #1F2A33. Secondary text: #6B7580. Gridlines: #E6E9EC.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Yrsa 700 for the title only, 30px, #1F2A33, sentence case, stating the finding with a number.
- Heebo for everything else: eyebrow 12px 600 uppercase with 2px letter-spacing in #6B7580 (for example "FIGURE 2 · POSTPRANDIAL RESPONSE"); subtitle 15px 400 #6B7580 with measure, unit and sample size; tick labels 13px #6B7580; axis title 13px 500 #1F2A33; series name labels 14px 700 in the series color; peak value lines 12.5px 400 #1F2A33; source 12px #6B7580.

Layout:
- 56px left margin for header text. Eyebrow at y 48, title at y 88, subtitle at y 116.
- Plot from x 96 to 900 and y 150 to 500. Axis title centered 48px below the baseline. Source line at the bottom left (y 578).

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal 1px #E6E9EC gridlines at each y tick; y tick labels right-aligned 14px left of the plot. No y-axis line.
- A 1.2px #1F2A33 x-axis line with 6px tick marks at each sampling time, labels 24px below.
- Reference baseline (for example fasting level): a 1.4px #1F2A33 dotted line (1.5 on, 4 off, round caps) across the plot, labeled in 12.5px 500 ink just below it in an empty stretch ("Fasting glucose, 5.0").

Marks:
- Line chart: smooth monotone curves (no overshoot), 2.6px, round joins. At every sampled point a hollow marker: r 4.2 white fill with a 2px stroke in the series color. The peak point gets a solid r 5.5 marker with a 1.5px white ring. The area between each curve and the reference baseline is tinted with the series color at 13% opacity, clipped so only the part above the baseline is shaded.
- Bar chart: vertical bars, about 55% of the band, square corners, filled with the series color at 85% opacity and a 2px solid top edge in the full series color; grouped bars 3px apart. The same dotted reference line runs across the bars, and each bar's value sits 8px above it in Heebo 12.5px ink.

Labels and annotation:
- Direct labels instead of a legend: at each series' peak a two-line label (name in bold series color, then "Peak 8.9 at 30 min · +3.9" in ink) joined to the peak by a 1px leader in the series color. Place labels in clear space, never on top of another line.

Avoid: legends boxes, drop shadows, gradients, heavy borders, 3D, background panels, and a dual y axis.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the tints stop at the baseline, the peak labels match the data exactly, no label sits on a line, and the three colors are distinct at thumbnail size.
