Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Generation Mix" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: an energy developer's investor dashboard on dark charcoal. Clean geometric type, sunny yellow for the main flow, teal for what storage shifted, and hatched gray for what was thrown away.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #191A1D (charcoal).
- First component: #F5C518 (bright yellow). Second component: #1FB5A3 (teal). Wasted or excluded component: diagonal hatching of 2px #6B6E75 lines every 6px at 45 degrees over #2C2E33.
- Text and target dots: #EDEDEF. Secondary text: #9A9CA3. Gridlines: #2B2D32.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Outfit for all text. Eyebrow 12px 600 uppercase with 2.6px letter-spacing in #F5C518; title 30px 600 #EDEDEF with -0.4px letter-spacing, stating a computed share; subtitle 15px 300 #9A9CA3; legend 14px 400; axis labels 13px; total labels 14px 600 #EDEDEF; flags 11px 600 yellow; source 12px 300.

Layout:
- 56px side margins. Eyebrow at y 46, title about y 90, subtitle about y 117, legend row at y 156 with a right-aligned note explaining what the totals measure.
- Plot from x 96 to x 904, baseline at y 494, top about y 196. Category labels 24px below the baseline, and a small yellow flag ("missed") 16px under any category that missed its target.

Axes and grid:
- Y axis from zero with 1px #2B2D32 gridlines at round values and labels right-aligned 12px left of the plot. A 1px #9A9CA3 baseline.

Marks:
- Bar chart: stacked bars about 57% of the band (38px at 12 bars): yellow at the bottom, a 1.5px charcoal gap, teal, then the hatched component on top with 3px rounded top corners (the solid segments stay square). The stack total sits 9px above each bar. A target for each category as a row of r 1.4 #EDEDEF dots every 5px spanning the full band width.
- Line chart: the same components as a stacked area chart with straight segments, yellow at the bottom, teal above, hatched on top, 1.5px charcoal separators between layers, and the target as a dotted #EDEDEF line (r 1.4 dots every 5px).

Avoid: glows, gradients, borders around bars, a separate line color for the target, and putting the wasted component anywhere but on top.

When you're done, render the chart and check that totals equal the sum of all three segments, the target dots read as a line across each band, the hatched segment reads as texture (not a fourth solid color) at thumbnail size, and the title's share is computed from the data.
