Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Floor Plan" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: the fold-out visitor map of a modern science museum. Clean white paper, flat wayfinding colors, one friendly geometric sans, circled level numbers and a map key with a compass.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Paper: #FFFFFF. Ink for text, outer walls and the pin: #26323A. Secondary text: #6B7780. Key panel fill: #F5F6F4 with a #DADDD9 divider.
- Zone colors, one per top-level category (wing): #8DB596 (sage green), #E3907E (dusty coral), #D8A93B (mustard ochre), #8EB8DA (powder blue).
- Sub-categories reuse their zone hue at three depths: deep (the zone color mixed 28% toward #2A2A2A: #718E78, #AF7366, #A78536, #7290A9), flat (the zone color), and light (mixed 52% toward white: #C8DBCD, #F2CAC1, #ECD6A1, #C9DDED). The key explains depth with a neutral ramp #7B8185, #9AA3A8, #CFD3D5.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Figtree throughout. Title 700 at 25px in ink; subtitle 400 at 14px in #6B7780 that states the measure, unit and what width encodes. Wing names 700 at 13.5px. Segment values 700 at 17px, segment names 400 at 11.5px, both white on deep and flat fills and ink on light fills. Axis and footnote figures 400 at 12.5px gray. Small caps labels ("MUSEUM KEY", "ENTRANCE") 600 to 700 at 9.5 to 11px with 1.5px letter-spacing.

Layout:
- 56px margins. Title and subtitle at the top left. Plot from x 56 to 676 and y 168 to 500; key panel on the right (x 716 to 904, same height, 10px radius).
- Draw the plot like a building: a 3px ink outer wall 5px outside the plot with a 40px gap on the bottom edge labeled "ENTRANCE" in small caps below it.
- Above each column: a circled level number (r 9, 1.4px ink stroke, 11px 700 numeral), the wing name beside it, and a 4px strip of the zone color the full column width.
- Key panel: "MUSEUM KEY", a small compass (r 15 circle, a filled north arrow, an "N" above) in the top right corner, the wings listed with 14px zone-colored squares and circled level numbers, a divider, then the depth ramp explaining sub-categories.

Axes and grid:
- No gridlines or axis lines. Column totals (floor area, or the width measure) centered 40px below the plot in gray.

Marks:
- Bar chart: a marimekko. Column widths proportional to the width measure, heights stacked to 100%. Separate every room with 2px white walls (gaps) both between columns and between segments. Label every segment inside, 10px from its top-left corner: value on the first line, name on the second when the segment is at least 46px tall.
- Line chart: lines in the zone colors at 3px with round joins, each series ending in a circled level-style marker (r 9 white fill, 2px zone stroke) and labeled with the series name in 700 Figtree; draw the plot inside the same 3px ink outer wall with an entrance gap on the baseline, and keep the key panel.
- "You are here": one map pin (a 22px ink teardrop with a 1.5px white outline and a white r 4 dot) on the segment or point to highlight, with a pill label (86 x 20, 10px radius, ink) reading "You are here" in white 600 11px.

Avoid: gradients, shadows, 3D, thin outlines around segments (use white gaps), more than four zone hues, and a separate legend for colors that are already labeled on the columns.

When you're done, render the chart and check that each column's segments sum to 100, column widths match the width measure, every segment label is readable against its fill, the pin does not cover any label, and the title's claim is true for the data.
