Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Float Session" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: the post-session report from a sensory-deprivation float studio, read in a dim room. Still, deep and quiet: blue-black water, one softly glowing pale aqua line, and a big calm number.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #0A1220 (deep blue black), with a radial glow from #12203A near the top left (center 30% / 20%, radius 90%) fading to #0A1220.
- Primary line and accents: #8FD8D2 (pale aqua).
- Title and hero figure: #E6EEF2. Secondary text: #7F91A6. Gridlines: #1A2638.
- Phase bands: #101B2E for the outer phases and #13223A for the central phase.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Cormorant 500 for the title (38px, #E6EEF2, sentence case, stating the finding) and the hero figure (84px).
- Quicksand for everything else: eyebrow 12px 600 uppercase with 3px letter-spacing in aqua; subtitle 15px #7F91A6; phase labels 11px 600 uppercase with 2.4px letter-spacing, centered at the top of each band; axis labels 13px; point annotations 12px 600 aqua; hero caption 11px 600 uppercase with 2.2px letter-spacing in aqua over a 14px #7F91A6 line; source 12px.

Layout:
- 64px side margins; eyebrow at y 58, title at y 104, subtitle at y 134.
- Plot from x 96 to x 896. Phase bands (10px radius, 2px gaps between them) run from y 166 to y 456 behind everything. The main series fills y 196 to y 380; a secondary strip below it (y 408 to y 452) carries a second, related measure with its own small label ("Breathing"), never a second y-axis.
- Bottom left: the hero figure (the resting or final value) with its uppercase caption to its right; source at the bottom right.

Axes and grid:
- No axis lines. Three 1px #1A2638 gridlines with 13px labels right-aligned 12px left of the plot. Time labels centered at y 480, the last one carrying the unit ("60 min").

Marks:
- Line chart: the main series is a smooth monotone curve, 2.6px #8FD8D2 with round caps, over a 6px copy at 45% opacity blurred by a 5px Gaussian (the glow). The secondary series in the strip is a 12px wide #8FD8D2 stroke at 22% opacity with round caps, a soft ribbon rather than a line, with a small range note ("14 → 6 breaths/min", with the arrow drawn as a thin stroked path because Quicksand has no arrow glyph) at its right end. Mark the minimum with an r 5 ring (2px aqua, page fill) and a 12px 600 aqua label beneath it; label the first value above its start.
- Bar chart: slim bars (40% of the band) with 6px rounded tops in #8FD8D2 at 30% opacity with a 1.5px aqua top edge, the key bar solid aqua with the same soft glow; phase bands and the hero figure stay as above.

Avoid: bright white fills, multiple saturated colors, hard gridlines, dual y-axes, drop shadows, and anything that reads as clinical or alarming.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the glow is not clipped at the edges, the phase labels clear the line, the minimum annotation matches the data, and the hero figure equals the minimum shown on the chart.
