Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Fleet Tracker" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a live ocean race tracker at night. Dark water, one bright amber leader line over a fleet of muted sea colors, a gray band marking the event that shaped the race, and a ranked label stack at the right ends.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #0A1A24 (dark ocean).
- Leader / highlighted series: #FFB703 (amber), also used for the eyebrow, the leader's rank chip fill and its labels.
- Other series, muted sea colors: #5FA8D3 (chase blue), #7CC6A4 (chase green), #B79CD9, #E08F7A, #9AB0C2, #C9B37E, #5FC3C0.
- Event band: #2A3A44 at 80% opacity. Headline text: #E8EEF2. Secondary text: #7D929F. Gridlines: #17303F.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Titillium Web throughout, with tabular figures: eyebrow 700 12.5px uppercase, 2.6px letter-spacing in amber; title 700 30px #E8EEF2 stating the finding with the lead computed from the rounded values shown; subtitle 400 16px #7D929F; axis labels 13px; column captions 700 10.5px uppercase with 1.4px letter-spacing; series names 600 15px (leader 700 in amber); end values 14px #7D929F (leader 700 amber).

Layout:
- Eyebrow y 50, title y 90, subtitle y 118, 56px margins.
- Plot from x 96 to 700 and about y 170 to 500, leaving a 200px label column on the right for the ranked stack: rank chip, name, and the end value right-aligned at x 904, with "RANK BOAT" and "TO GO" captions above the stack.
- A 1px #17303F rule at y 552 with "Source: ..." left and a short measurement note right, both 13px.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal gridlines 1px #17303F with comma-formatted labels; the zero/finish line in #7D929F with a small "FINISH" caption above its label.
- Short 6px ticks below the plot every 2 periods, labeled "Start", "Day 2", "Day 4".
- The event band is a full-height #2A3A44 rectangle over its time range with a two-line uppercase 700 11px caption at its top.

Marks:
- Line chart: every series as a straight-segment line, others 1.6px at 85% opacity, the leader 3px amber drawn last. End dots r 3 (leader r 4.5). Labels are spread vertically (26px minimum spacing) in the same top-to-bottom order as the line ends, joined to their dots by 1px curved leaders in the series color at 70% opacity. Rank chips are 18px squares, 2px radius, 1.4px stroke in the series color with the rank number inside; the leader's chip is filled amber with a dark number.
- Bar chart: horizontal bars sorted by value, muted sea colors at 85% opacity with the leader in amber, the same rank chips at the left of each name and values at the bar ends.

Avoid: a legend box (label series directly), glows, gradients, bright colors for anything but the leader, and leader lines that cross each other.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the label stack order matches the line-end order, the rank numbers match the values, the title's lead equals the difference of the displayed values, and nothing in the label column is clipped at the right edge.
