Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Fitness Fatigue" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a premium training-analytics dashboard in dark mode. Near-black canvas, three vivid signal colors, a compact readout card of the latest values, and a derived measure in its own panel with good/bad shading.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #0B0B0D. Readout card: #131317 with a 1px #24242B border. Gridlines: #24242B.
- Series: #4DA3FF (blue, the smooth long-term series), #FF5C8A (pink, the spiky short-term series), #FFD24D (yellow, the derived series in the lower panel).
- Lower panel shading: #2FD08A (green) at 22% opacity above zero, #FF4B4B (red) at 22% opacity below zero.
- Primary text and event marker: #F2F2F5. Secondary text: #8B8B96.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Geologica throughout. Eyebrow 12px 500 uppercase with 2.4px letter-spacing, #8B8B96; title 28px 600 #F2F2F5 stating the finding; subtitle 14.5px 300 #8B8B96; readout captions 10.5 to 11px 500 uppercase with 1.2 to 1.6px letter-spacing; readout numbers 28px 600 in each series color; direct series labels 14px 600 in the series color; axis labels 12 to 12.5px; footer 12px 300.

Layout:
- 56px side margins. Eyebrow y 50, title y 86, subtitle y 112, all on the left.
- Readout card top right: 264 x 104px at (640, 24), 8px radius, a "LATEST · date" caption, then three equal columns (84px) separated by 1px #24242B rules; each column has a 16 x 3px color key, a caption and the big value (signed for the derived series).
- Main panel x 72 to 900, y 176 to 368, outlined by a 1px #24242B frame. Lower panel y 434 to 512, same x range, as its own framed box (#131317 fill, 1px #2E2E36 border) with its own small scale (top, zero and bottom labels only, each with a faint gridline). The 66px gap between the two frames, holding the lower panel's caption, keeps the two scales from reading as one continuous axis. Never put a second measure on a right-hand axis.
- Footer with source left and a method note right at y 578.

Axes and grid:
- 1px #24242B horizontal gridlines at round values, labels right-aligned 10px left of the plot. Month boundaries as 1px #24242B dotted (2 on, 4 off) verticals inside each panel (not across the gap), month names 12.5px under the lower panel.
- Lower panel: a 1px #8B8B96 zero line, and a caption above it in yellow 11px 500 caps ("FORM (fitness minus fatigue)") followed by "FRESH" in green and "TIRED" in red as the key.

Marks:
- Line chart: the long-term series as a 3px blue monotone curve (sample every few points so it reads smooth), the short-term series as a 1.6px pink polyline with every daily spike kept, the derived series as a 1.8px yellow polyline in the lower panel with green/red area fill clipped at zero. Direct labels next to each line, no legend box.
- Bar chart: in the main panel, 2px-gap daily or weekly bars in #4DA3FF with a 1.6px #FF5C8A line for the short-term measure; in the lower panel, diverging bars from zero, green (#2FD08A at 70%) above and red (#FF4B4B at 70%) below, with the same yellow caption.
- Event marker: a 1.2px #F2F2F5 vertical line through both panels, topped by a 100 x 18px white pennant flag (notched right edge) with "RACE AUG 9" in 10px 700 #0B0B0D, and a r 4 yellow dot with a 2px background ring where it meets the derived series.

Avoid: light backgrounds, gradients on lines, glow effects, legends when direct labels fit, a dual y axis, text overlapping the readout card.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the readout values match the last data point, the signed derived value is correct, any peak or date the subtitle names is computed from the data (a taper should visibly follow the peak), the green/red shading flips exactly at zero, and the flag text fits inside the flag.
