Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Festival Lineup" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a summer music festival poster. Sunshine yellow stock, black ink, one hot pink for the headline act, and categories billed like a lineup, biggest name at the top in the biggest type.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #FFD60A (sunshine yellow).
- Ink for text, bars, rules and the frame: #111111.
- Hot pink for the headline category, its current-period bar and the date badge: #FF2E88.
- Small print: #6B5A00.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Bricolage Grotesque for everything, loaded with its opsz, wdth and wght axes (12..96, 75..100, 200..800).
- Category names: weight 800, uppercase, condensed with font-stretch 75%, in descending sizes down the list: 46, 38, 32, 27, 23, 20px. The first one is hot pink, the rest ink.
- Title: 800, 44px, -1px letter-spacing, sentence case, stating the finding. Eyebrow: 700 12px uppercase, 2.4px letter-spacing. Subtitle: 500 17px.
- Value labels: 800 14px for the current period, 500 13px for the previous one. Badge text: 800 condensed (75%), 18/40/16px.

Layout:
- 48px margins inside a 3px ink frame inset 18px from the edges.
- Eyebrow, title and subtitle top left, then a small key: a solid 26 x 11 ink swatch "2025", an outlined swatch "2024", a pink swatch "Headline stage, 2025".
- A starburst badge in the top right corner: 18 points, outer radius 78, inner 62, hot pink, rotated -10 degrees, holding the dates in ink condensed caps.
- Categories as horizontal tiers, 55px apart, sorted largest first, with 1px dotted ink separators (dash 1 4) between tiers. Names in the left column (x 48 to 340), bars from a 2px ink spine at x 352.
- A 2px ink rule under the last tier, a total line in 700 13px on the left and "Source: ..." in 500 12px #6B5A00 on the right.

Axes and grid:
- No value axis, no gridlines. Every bar carries its value 8px past its end.

Marks:
- Bar chart: horizontal grouped bars, square corners, 13px tall. Current period solid ink (hot pink for the headline tier), directly above the previous period drawn as a 1.5px ink outline with no fill. Scale so the longest bar ends about 60px before the frame.
- Line chart: category lines in ink at 3.5px with square caps and no smoothing, the headline series in hot pink at 5px; the previous period as a 1.5px ink dashed line. Series names set at the line ends in the same descending condensed caps.

Avoid: gradients, shadows, rounded corners, extra colors, thin gray text, and centered layouts; this is left-aligned billing.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the tier sizes descend with the data, only the headline tier uses pink, the badge clears the title, and the totals in the footer add up.
