Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Festival Laurels" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: the awards page of a film festival programme. Warm cream stock, classical serif type, deep bottle green ink and a single touch of burnished gold for the winner, crowned with a line-art laurel wreath.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #F6F0E2 (warm cream) for the whole canvas.
- Bottle green: #1F4A3A for the title, ordinary lollipops, score figures and the winner's name.
- Gold: #B8913E for the winner's lollipop, the laurel wreath, the double rule, the eyebrow and the "Winner" tag. Nothing else is gold.
- Body ink: #2A2A26 for ordinary category names. Secondary text: #7A7263. Faint scale lines and footer rule: #E2D8C2.

Typography (Google Fonts), with lining tabular figures for every number (font-variant-numeric: lining-nums tabular-nums; Cormorant defaults to oldstyle figures):
- Cormorant: title 700 40px green, sentence case, stating the finding; subtitle italic 500 19px #7A7263 with the measure and unit; names 600 19px (winner 700 22px green); scores 600 19px green; axis ticks 500 15px; footer italic 500 15px.
- Cormorant SC: eyebrow 600 18px gold with 2px letter-spacing (the award category); the edition label 600 15px green with 1.5px letter-spacing; the "Winner" tag 600 14px gold, 1.5px letter-spacing; the "Score" column head 600 14px.

Layout:
- 64px side margins. Eyebrow at y 52, title at y 94, subtitle at y 122. The top right holds a small festival edition label: "Official Selection" in small caps, and "12th Edition" in italic 16px #7A7263 beneath, both right-aligned.
- A thin double gold rule under the subtitle, full width: 1.2px at y 140 and 0.6px at y 144.
- Rows sorted descending. The winner's row is given extra room (about 46px above the next row); other rows on a 32px pitch.
- Names right-aligned at x 282. Plot from x 300 to 790. A score column centered at x 864 with a "Score" head at the bottom.
- Footer: a 1px #E2D8C2 rule at y 552, "Source: ..." at y 578 on the left and a short italic note on the right.

Axes and grid:
- A zero-based scale with faint 1px #E2D8C2 vertical lines at each tick, tick labels under the last row. No axis box and no y axis line.

Marks:
- Bar chart: horizontal lollipops. Stems 1.4px green from zero to the value, heads solid green circles r 6.5. The winner: a 2.2px gold stem and r 8.5 gold head, with the "Winner" tag set just above the head.
- Line chart: a 1.6px green line with small green dots (r 4) and cream 2px rings, category labels in Cormorant; the winning or latest point is an r 7 gold dot with a 1.6px gold segment into it, and its value is enclosed by the wreath at the end of the line.
- Scores set to the right in the score column, not at the heads.
- The laurel wreath: gold line art only (no fill), about 60px across, enclosing the winner's score (700 26px green). Two mirrored branches, each a 1.2px arc from the bottom up the side (about 124 degrees of a 31px-radius circle), carrying 8 outer leaves and 7 smaller inner leaves (72% size), each a 1px outlined ellipse 13 x 5.2 px pointing up the branch and angled about 35 degrees away from the stem, with a small curved tie at the bottom where the branches meet.

Avoid: filled bars, gradients, shadows, gold on anything except the winner and the rules, oldstyle figures, sans-serif type, and trophy or star icons.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the rows are sorted, figures are lining and aligned in the score column, the wreath encloses the winner's score without touching neighboring rows, and gold appears on only one data mark.
