Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Farmers Market" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a hand-printed stall sign at a weekend farmers market. Kraft paper, produce-colored stamp ink with slightly uneven edges, a slab-serif headline, a price tag on a string and a rubber date stamp.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #D8C3A0 (kraft) for the whole canvas, with a faint horizontal paper fiber texture (fractal noise, baseFrequency 0.5 x 0.04, 2 octaves, tinted brown at 10% opacity).
- Series inks, in stack order from the bottom: #C23B2A (tomato red), #E08A2C (squash orange), #3F6B3A (kale green), #6B2B4F (beet purple).
- Text ink: #2A2420 (black ink). Secondary text: #5E5044.
- Price tag card: #F2E6CC with a 1.2px #2A2420 outline. Date stamp ink: #C23B2A.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Zilla Slab 700 for the title (38px, #2A2420, stating the finding), category labels (16px uppercase, 1.5px letter-spacing), the tag's big number (26px) and the stamp's date (18px).
- Work Sans for the rest: eyebrow 13px 600 uppercase with 2.6px letter-spacing in #5E5044; subtitle 16px #5E5044 with measure, unit and period; legend 14px 500; axis labels 13.5px #5E5044; bar totals 14px 600 #2A2420; small caps on the tag and stamp 11px 600 with 1.6 to 3px letter-spacing; source 12.5px.

Layout:
- 56px left margin. Eyebrow at y 58, title at y 100, subtitle at y 130, legend row at y 156 to 170 (14px squares, 21px to the label, 24px between items), listed in the same top-to-bottom order as the stack.
- Plot from x 104 to 880, baseline y 512, top of scale near y 186. Rubber-stamp date block in the top right corner (x 752 to 900, y 52 to 124), rotated -5 degrees.
- "Source: illustrative data" at bottom left, y 576.

Axes and grid:
- Gridlines at round values only, 1px #2A2420 at 18% opacity, dashed 3 on 4 off. Y labels right-aligned, with thousands separators. No y-axis line.
- A 2px ink baseline with the rough filter below. No ticks.

Texture and effects:
- Stamp-ink edge on every mark: feTurbulence fractalNoise baseFrequency 0.9, 2 octaves, into feDisplacementMap scale 2.6, so edges are slightly uneven but still straight.
- About 3% speckle inside the marks: a second fractalNoise (baseFrequency 1.6) turned into an alpha mask (alpha = -14 x noise + 11.2) and composited "in" with the displaced marks, so tiny kraft specks show through.
- A lighter rough filter (displacement scale 1.8) on the baseline, legend squares, price tag and stamp.

Marks:
- Bar chart: stacked vertical bars 78px wide per month, square ends, segments separated by 1.5px kraft gaps (no strokes). Month total in Work Sans 14px 600 centered 10px above each stack.
- Line chart: 3.5px lines in the four inks with the same stamp-edge filter, square end caps, and a 9px square stamp marker at each point; label each series at its right end in Work Sans 14px 600 in its own ink. Use the same kraft ground, gridlines and headline.
- Price tag on the tallest mark: a 176 x 64 px tag with a pointed left end (the point 22px deep), a punched hole (r 4.5, kraft-filled, 1px ink ring) 18px from the point, rotated -6 degrees, hung from a 1.2px ink string curving down to just above the tallest mark's label. On it: "SEASON TOTAL" in Work Sans 11px 600 and the total in Zilla Slab 26px ("10,830 lb").
- Rubber-stamp date block: a 2.5px #C23B2A rounded rectangle (rx 4) with a 1px inner rectangle 6px inside, "SEASON" in 11px spaced caps and the date range in Zilla Slab 18px, all at 88% opacity.

Avoid: gradients, drop shadows, glossy effects, rounded bar corners, heavy displacement that makes bars wobble, and speckle so heavy it looks dirty.

When you're done, render the chart and check that segment gaps are even, the stamp texture is subtle at thumbnail size, the tag and its string don't cover any total label, the stamp doesn't touch the title, and the title's claim is true for the data.
