Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Failed Deliveries" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a proof-of-delivery exception report printed on pale lemon slip paper. A camera outline badge beside the title, a perforated tear line under the header, a tidy three-column table of sorted muted red bars, and the worst category pulled out in deep crimson with a note card.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Canvas: #FFFCE8. Row rules and badge border: #EDE5C4. Perforation dots: #A89A82; punched half circles at each end #F3EDCF.
- Bars: #DC2626 at 82% opacity. The top category: #991B1B at full opacity.
- Share pills: #FFFFFF fill with a 1.2px #DC2626 border and #DC2626 text; the top pill is solid #991B1B with white text.
- Text: #2A1A12 for the title, top label and counts, #6F5F4E for the subtitle, category labels and note text, #A89A82 for column headers and the source line.
- Note card: #FFFFFF, 10px radius, 1.2px #991B1B border, a 5px #991B1B spine on its left edge, shadow 0 2px 6px #5C3A12 at 12%.
- Additional series if needed (grouped bars): #F59E0B then #78716C.

Typography (Google Fonts): Onest everywhere, tabular figures for all numbers.
- Title 25px 700, letter-spacing -0.4px, stating the finding. Subtitle 14px 500 with the measure, period and n.
- Column headers 11px 700 uppercase, 1.2px tracking. Category labels 14px 500 (the top one 700). Counts 14px 700, right-aligned. Share pills 12px 700.
- Note: kicker 10.5px 700 uppercase in #991B1B, big figure 30px 800 with -0.8px tracking, body 12px 500 on 18px leading, footnote 11px 600. Source 11.5px 500.

Layout:
- Header: a 52px white rounded square (14px radius, 1.5px #EDE5C4 border) at x 40, y 38 holding a 2.2px #991B1B camera outline (body, lens circle and a small flash dot). Title at x 110, y 64; subtitle at y 90.
- Perforation at y 124: a 1.5px dotted line (2/5 dash, round caps) from x 52 to 908 with 10px punched half circles at the canvas edges.
- Table: column headers at y 156 (REASON at x 48, ATTEMPTS right-aligned at x 262, SHARE OF FAILURES at x 280). Rows 46px tall from y 178, separated by 1px #EDE5C4 rules; bars 26px tall starting at x 280, the longest 380px wide.
- The note card (184 x 152) sits to the right of the top row at x 740, joined to the top pill by a 1.2px crimson leader.
- Source at y 568.

Axes and grid:
- No value axis and no vertical gridlines: the pills and counts carry the numbers. Only the horizontal row rules.
- Sort categories by count, largest first; put a catch-all "Other" last regardless of size.

Marks:
- Bar chart: horizontal bars with 5px rounded right ends and square left ends, anchored on one baseline. A fully rounded 58 x 22 share pill sits 8px after each bar's end. The top bar and its pill switch to #991B1B.
- Line chart: a 3px #DC2626 line with 4px white-filled dots ringed in #DC2626, the worst period's dot filled #991B1B with a solid crimson share pill above it and the note card beside the plot; keep the lemon canvas, perforation and camera badge, with light horizontal #EDE5C4 gridlines.

Avoid: saturated backgrounds, gradients, bar outlines, more than two reds, vertical gridlines, and repeating the share inside the bar.

When you're done, render the chart and check that shares sum to about 100%, every pill clears its bar and the next column, the longest label does not touch its count, and the note text fits inside the card.
