Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Fader Bank" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a bank of channel strips on a studio mixing console, photographed straight on. Dark graphite hardware, backlit colored scribble strips, recessed fader slots and segmented LED meters. Each bar is a fader.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Console ground: #1B1C1E. Channel strips: #2A2C30 rounded panels (rx 5, 1px #232528 edge). The master strip: #34373C with a 1px #5A5E66 edge.
- Group colors for scribble strips, fills and readouts: #2EC4B6 (teal), #F2A541 (amber), #E0529C (magenta), #A6D84A (lime). The master uses #E6E7E9.
- Fader slots and readout windows: #0E0F10. Fader caps: #8C9096 (matte gray) with a 1px #101112 edge.
- LED meter segments: #4FCB7A below -18 dB, #E8C547 from -18 to -6 dB, #E5484D above -6 dB; unlit segments at 12% opacity.
- Text: #E6E7E9. Secondary text: #8B8F96.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Barlow 600, 24px for the title (stating the finding), Barlow 14px #8B8F96 for the subtitle and 12px for the footer.
- Barlow Condensed for everything on the console: scribble strip names 700 15.5px in #111214 on the colored strip; readouts 600 17px in the channel color; group labels 600 12px uppercase with 1.8px letter-spacing in the group color; dB scale 500 14px (the 0 mark 700 in #E6E7E9); channel numbers 600 13px. Use a true minus sign (U+2212).

Layout:
- Title at (36, 44), subtitle at y 70. A dB scale column right-aligned at x 60. Strips 76px wide with 8px gaps from x 72; the master strip on the far right, wider, after a 6px extra gap, ending at x 924.
- Above each group of strips, its group label at y 90 over a 2px rule at y 96 in the group color.
- Inside each strip, top to bottom: scribble strip (inset 6px, 28px tall, rx 2) at y 114; readout window (inset 10px, 24px tall) at y 150 showing the value to one decimal; then the fader area from y 196 to 488; the channel number at y 508.

Axes and grid:
- A linear dB scale on the fader area (e.g. -40 to +10). Tick marks left of each slot every 5 dB: 9px, 0.8px #8B8F96 at 60% opacity; the 0 dB unity tick 1.4px #E6E7E9. Numbers appear only in the scale column at the left.

Marks:
- Bar chart: each value is a fader. An 8px recessed slot (rx 4, #0E0F10, faint black edge) spans the whole scale; a 6px fill in the channel color at 90% opacity rises from the bottom to the value; a 34 x 18 px matte gray cap (rx 2.5) sits centered on the value with a 12% white highlight band on its top 5px and a 1.6px white index line across its middle (red #E5484D on the master). A 6px wide LED meter 14px right of the slot, in 1.25 dB segments with 2px gaps, lit up to the value.
- Line chart: draw the scale column and ruled tick rows the same way, run the series as a 2.5px line in the group color across the strips, and put a matte gray fader cap (34 x 18 px) on each point with the value in a readout window above it.

Avoid: glossy 3D bevels, photographic textures, glows, drop shadows, rounded fills that don't sit in the slot, and more than four group colors.

When you're done, render the chart and check that each cap's index line sits exactly at its value, meter segments stop at the value, names fit their scribble strips, the master is clearly set apart, and the title's claim matches the data.
