Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Exposure Sheet" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: an animator's exposure sheet (x-sheet): a printed production form with a boxed title block, fine pale green ruling and everything filled in on a typewriter. Orderly, technical, a little analog.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Sheet: #FFFFFF.
- Fine ruling: #CFE3D0. Stronger column and row rules: #9CC3A0.
- Typewriter ink (text, form borders, ticks): #1F2A24. Secondary text: #5E6E64.
- Exposure green for data: #2F6F4E, with a pale tint #DCEBDD for ordinary bars.
- Red pencil for the single highlight ring: #B8432F.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Courier Prime only. Title block field labels 700, 10px uppercase, 1.2px letter-spacing, #5E6E64; field values 700, 19px uppercase, #1F2A24.
- Title 700, 25px #1F2A24, stating the finding. Subtitle 400, 14px #5E6E64 with measure, unit and conversion (e.g. "360 frames = 15 seconds at 24 fps").
- Column headers 700, 11px uppercase with 1px letter-spacing, with a 400 11px lowercase unit line below. Row labels 700, 14px uppercase. Values 700, 15px; secondary values (seconds) 400, 12px #5E6E64. Ruler numbers 700, 12px.

Layout:
- Title block at the top (x 40 to 920, y 28, 56px tall): a 1.6px #1F2A24 box split by 1px rules into fields such as PRODUCTION, EPISODE, SCENE, LENGTH, SHEET, each with a small label and a big value.
- Title at y 124, subtitle at y 150, both left aligned at x 40.
- The sheet table from y 176: a 38px header row, then one 50px row per category, boxed in 1.6px ink with a 1.2px ink rule under the header and 1px #9CC3A0 rules between rows. Columns: category names (150px), the bar area (the ruler), then narrow data columns (80 to 90px each) for related measures, such as "DIAL. frames" and "LINES spoken", separated by 1px ink rules.
- A one-line note under the table and a footer at y 574: "Source: ..." left, a small uppercase form code ("X-SHEET | 24 FPS") right.

Axes and grid:
- The bar area's header is a frame ruler: numbers every 48 units (and at the end), ink ticks 10px at labeled steps, 7px at every 24, 4px at every 8.
- Inside the body: vertical rules every 8 units (0.6px #CFE3D0), every 24 units stronger (0.9px #9CC3A0), and fine horizontal ruling every 10px (0.6px #CFE3D0), so the bar area looks like printed graph ruling.

Marks:
- Bar chart: horizontal bars 22px tall starting at zero, pale #DCEBDD fill with a 1.4px #2F6F4E outline; the highlighted (largest or focal) bar solid #2F6F4E. A 1.6px ink end tick 32px tall at each bar's end, like an exposure bracket. The value (700 15px) sits 8px after the tick, followed by the converted value in 12px #5E6E64 ("13.0s"). Related measures go in the right-hand data columns, centered, with "--" for none.
- Line chart: keep the ruled sheet; a 2px #2F6F4E stepped line (holds read like exposures) with 1.6px ink ticks at each change, the series name in the left column and values in the right columns. Multiple series take separate rows, each a small stepped line in its own 50px row.
- One red pencil ellipse (1.6px #B8432F, rotated -4 degrees) circles the focal value.

Avoid: color fills beyond the greens, rounded corners, shadows, proportional fonts, and dense labels on every ruler tick.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the fine ruling stays pale behind the bars, the ruler numbers line up with the column rules, the seconds labels never touch the frame values and the title arithmetic matches the data.
