Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Exec Summary" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: the executive summary slide of a management review. The takeaways come first and the chart backs them up; calm slate with one confident green highlight.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Slide: #EEF0F3 (light gray). Chart panel: #FFFFFF with a soft shadow (0 2px 4px blur, #1C2330 at 8% opacity) and 6px corner radius.
- Ordinary bars: #7D8A9C (slate). The latest or focus period: #1D6B4F (deep green), also used for the title's accent bar, the delta callout and the latest labels.
- Ink: #1C2330 for the title, takeaway headings, number badges, value labels and the baseline. Secondary text: #5E6878. Divider hairlines: #D6DAE0. Panel gridlines: #EDEFF2. Text on the green callout: #FFFFFF and #D5EBE1.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Lato only, weights 400, 700 and 900.
- Kicker above the title: 700 11px uppercase with 1.8px letter-spacing, #5E6878. Title: 900 28px #1C2330, a finding in sentence case.
- Takeaway headings: 900 16.5px #1C2330. Takeaway body: 400 14px #5E6878, two lines at 20px pitch. Badge numbers: 900 15px white.
- Panel title: 700 14px #1C2330 with measure, unit and period. Value labels 700 12.5px (900 green for the latest). Axis labels 11.5px and category labels 13px #5E6878 (900 green for the latest).
- Callout: 900 16px white headline and 400 12px #D5EBE1 subline. Footer 11px; confidentiality tag 700 9.5px uppercase with 1.2px letter-spacing.

Layout:
- A 4 x 46 px green accent bar at x 48 beside the kicker and title (title baseline 84px).
- Left column x 48 to 316: three numbered takeaways, each a 15px-radius #1C2330 circle with a white number, a bold heading 28px to its right and two body lines; 128px between takeaways, separated by 1px #D6DAE0 hairlines.
- Right panel at x 344, y 116, 568 x 414. Plot inside it with 60px left and 24px right padding and 44px below the baseline.
- Footer at baseline 573: source at the left, a bordered "CONFIDENTIAL | INTERNAL USE ONLY" tag (0.8px #5E6878 stroke, 3px radius), and the page number at the right.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal gridlines only, 1px #EDEFF2, at round values with thousands separators, labels right-aligned 10px left of the plot. A 1.2px #1C2330 baseline. No y-axis line.

Marks:
- Bar chart: square-cornered vertical bars 38px wide (about 60% of the band), slate, the latest in deep green. Value labels centered 8px above each bar.
- Line chart: a 3px slate line with 4px slate dots, the latest segment and point (6px) in deep green, value labels on the first, the extremes and the latest point, same grid and baseline.

Labels and annotation:
- Delta callout: a deep green rounded box (4px radius, about 128 x 52 px) with the change in percent and absolute units, plus a 1.6px green elbow arrow from above the previous period's mark across to the latest mark, ending in a small filled arrowhead pointing down at it.
- Takeaways must be true for the data (for example "2020 was the only decline").

Avoid: more than one highlight color, gradients on bars, heavy borders, legends, dense gridlines and long paragraphs in the takeaways.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the three takeaways and the callout's numbers are arithmetically correct, only the latest mark is green, the callout clears the value labels, and the takeaway column and panel top align.
