Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Eval Harness" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: the summary report an evaluation harness prints after a run, dressed up for a slide. Near-black green background, monospace everything, one fresh mint color for success, and big pass rates you can read from across the room.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #0B120F (very dark green-black). Gridlines and rules: #18231E.
- Outcomes, always in this order from left to right: pass #5EE6A8 (fresh mint), partial #D9A441 (muted amber), fail #F07088 (soft coral), timeout #3E4843 (dim gray).
- Main text: #E4EDE8. Secondary text: #7E8C85. Counts printed inside the mint segment: #08331F.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Geist for the title (600, 27px, -0.4px letter-spacing, stating the finding with the best and worst pass rates) and the subtitle (15px, #7E8C85, including the overall pass rate).
- Geist Mono for everything else: the run metadata line (12px, #7E8C85, starting with a mint "$" prompt), legend (13px), category labels (14px) with sample counts in parentheses (11.5px, #7E8C85, 8px after the name), tick labels (11.5px), pass counts inside bars (500, 12px), the pass-rate column (600, 25px, mint, -0.5px letter-spacing) and the source line (11.5px).

Layout:
- Metadata line at y 36 ("$ run 2026-09-27T04:12Z model=... temperature=0.2 seed=1337 max_tokens=2048 n=1,540"), title at y 76, subtitle at y 102, all left at x 40.
- Legend row at y 124 to 136: 12px squares with 3px radius and lowercase outcome names. A small "PASS" column header (11px, 1.5px letter-spacing) right-aligned at x 904 on the same row.
- One row per category, 40px pitch, sorted by pass rate descending. Labels left at x 40; bars from x 222 to 806; pass rate right-aligned at x 904 with one decimal and no % sign.
- A #18231E rule under the axis labels and a one-line monospace footnote defining partial and timeout, starting with "Source: ...".

Axes and grid:
- Vertical 1px #18231E gridlines at 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100% behind the bars, labeled below the last row. No y-axis line.

Marks:
- Bar chart: 100% stacked horizontal bars 22px tall, clipped to a fully rounded pill (11px radius) so only the outer ends are round. Separate segments with 1.5px background-colored hairline gaps. Print the raw pass count in the mint segment, 12px from its left end, when it fits.
- Line chart: one 2px line per outcome share in the outcome colors (timeout dashed 4 on 3 off, since it is gray), with 3px dots, the pass line thicker at 2.5px, and the final pass rate printed at the right end in 25px mint Geist Mono.

Avoid: gradients, glows, 3D, sans-serif numbers, percentage signs on every segment, a colored background panel behind the bars, and changing the outcome order between rows.

When you're done, render the chart and check that every bar sums to 100%, the pass-rate column matches pass divided by the category's sample count, the rows are sorted, and the hairline gaps are visible between every pair of segments.
