Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "EV Sessions" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: the month view of an electric car's companion app at night. Deep ink, two bright signal colors, crisp small numbers and tiny glyphs, clean and technical but friendly.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #101418 dark ink.
- Good or primary segment (for example off-peak charging): #22D3EE bright cyan.
- Secondary segment (for example charging outside the window): #FF8A3D orange.
- Reference band (for example usable battery size): #C6D0DA as a 1px line at 55% opacity inside a 10px band of 45 degree hatching (1.2px lines at 35% opacity, 6px spacing).
- Text #EDF1F5, secondary #95A0AC, axis labels #5E6975, gridlines #1F262E, baseline #3A444F. Weekend columns: a white tint at 2.8% opacity with 4px corners.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Kumbh Sans everywhere, tabular figures.
- Title 26px 700, -0.4px letter-spacing, stating the finding; subtitle 14.5px 400 #95A0AC with unit, period, counts and the time window.
- Bar top values 11px 700 #EDF1F5; day labels 11px (700 and white on weekends, 400 muted on weekdays); legend 13px.

Layout:
- 56px left margin. Title at y 60, subtitle at y 88.
- Under the subtitle, a 360px summary split bar (10px tall, 5px radius, a 3px gap between the segments) proportional to the two totals, with each total labeled in its own color below the ends; to its right a legend for the glyph and the reference band.
- Plot from x 72 to 900 and y 196 to 480, one band per day. A footnote line at the bottom with the weekend finding and "Source: illustrative data".

Axes and grid:
- Gridlines every 20 units, 1px #1F262E; y labels 11.5px 10px left of the plot with the unit label above them. No vertical gridlines.
- Day numbers under every bar. Days with no data get a short 8px #5E6975 dash on the baseline instead of an empty gap.

Marks:
- Bar chart: square-cornered stacked bars 16px wide, primary segment at the bottom, secondary on top separated by a 1.5px dark gap; total value 7px above each bar; a line-drawn plug glyph (1.5px white strokes: rounded body, two prongs, a short cord) 30px above the tops of weekend bars. The reference band crosses the whole plot with its label right-aligned above it on a background-colored patch.
- Line chart: 2.5px lines in cyan and orange with 3.5px dots at each day, a soft 12% cyan area under the primary line, the same reference band, and plug glyphs above weekend points.

Avoid: gradients on bars, rounded bar ends, glows, more than two data colors, and letting the weekend tint run through the reference band.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the summary bar's proportions and the title's percentage match the totals, every value label clears its bar and glyph, and the plug glyphs appear only on weekend sessions.
