Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Episode Downloads" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: an independent podcast's show dashboard with a bookish touch. Warm paper, a characterful serif headline, calm muted teal bars and small clay annotations.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #FBF9F6 (warm white).
- Main bars: #2B7A78 (muted teal). Secondary or minor bars (bonus, partial periods): #9CC8C4.
- Annotation accent: #C4693D (clay) for the badges, their stems and the rolling-average line.
- Ink: #23302F. Secondary text: #7A7570. Gridlines and footer rule: #E8E2DA. Baseline: ink.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Young Serif 400 for the title, 34px ink, stating the finding.
- Karla for everything else: eyebrow 12px 700 uppercase, 2.4px letter-spacing, teal; subtitle 16px 500 #7A7570; legend 13px 600 ink; axis labels 13px 500 #7A7570; category labels 12px 600 ink (500 #7A7570 for minor bars); value labels 12px 700; badge initials 10.5px 700 clay; footnote 12px italic.

Layout:
- 56px margins. Eyebrow at y 58, title at y 100, subtitle at y 128, a one-line legend at y 166 (square swatches, a narrow swatch for minor bars, a clay ring for badges, a clay dotted stroke for the average).
- Plot from x 96 to 900, baseline 480, top 200. Footer rule at y 540, source left and a short italic methods note right at y 564.

Axes and grid:
- 1px #E8E2DA horizontal gridlines with "10k"-style labels right-aligned 16px left of the plot; a 1.4px ink baseline. No y-axis line. Category labels 22px below the baseline.

Marks:
- Bar chart: teal bars 34px wide with 4px rounded tops; minor bars 16px wide in #9CC8C4 with 3px tops. Values sit inside the main bars in white, 12px above the baseline; minor bar values sit 8px above the bar in #7A7570. Flag special bars (guests) with a 12.5px paper-filled circle with a 1.5px clay ring and initials inside, 22px above the bar top on a 1.2px clay stem.
- Line chart: a 2.5px teal line with 4px teal dots at each point, minor series in #9CC8C4 dashed, and the same clay initials badges above flagged points.
- Rolling average: a clay dotted line (3px, round caps, dash 0.1 gap 6) through the bar centers, ending in a 4.5px clay dot with a 1.5px white ring and a 12px 700 clay "avg" label in free space nearby.

Avoid: bright or saturated teal, gradients, drop shadows, value labels on top of bars where the average line crosses, and more than one accent color.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the dotted average never crosses a label, badges clear the bar tops, and the growth figure in the title matches first versus last main bar.
