Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Engagement Pulse" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a calm people-analytics report on engagement surveys. Soft sky tones, rounded forms and one team's story told in vivid teal while everyone else recedes into blue gray.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #EEF5FA (pale sky) for the whole canvas.
- Context series: #B3C3D2 muted blue gray ribbons; their badges are #FFFFFF with a 2px #8FA3B6 ring and #5E7285 numerals.
- Highlighted series: #0E9F97 vivid teal; its name and emphasis text use #0A7A74.
- Text: #1C2B3A ink, #5E7285 secondary. Column rules and footer rule: #D3E0EA. Rank gutter numerals: #8FA3B6.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Lexend 500 for the title (29px, -0.4px letter-spacing, ink, stating the finding) and the rank gutter numerals (14px).
- Nunito for everything else: eyebrow 12px 800 uppercase with 2px letter-spacing in #0A7A74; subtitle 15.5px 400 #5E7285; column headers 13px 700 #5E7285; series names 15px 600 ink (highlighted 800 in #0A7A74); badge numerals 11.5px 700 (context) and 13.5px 800 white (highlight); footer 12px.

Layout:
- 56px margins. Eyebrow, title, subtitle stacked at top left.
- Columns for each period evenly spaced (about 104px apart) starting about 232px from the left, with period headers 38px above the first row and a faint 1px vertical rule through each column.
- Rows for ranks 1 (top) to N, about 52px apart. A narrow left gutter shows the rank numbers under a small "RANK" label.
- Series names at both ends: right-aligned 30px left of the first column, left-aligned 30px right of the last column, each at the series' rank in that period.
- Footer rule, then the source line on the left and a teal one-line takeaway on the right.

Axes and grid:
- No axes, no horizontal gridlines. Only the faint column rules and the rank gutter.

Marks:
- Line chart (bump chart): connect each series' rank between periods with S-shaped cubic curves (control points at the horizontal midpoint, flat tangents at each column). Context ribbons 6px with round caps; the highlighted ribbon 8px teal, drawn on top with a 14px background-colored halo underneath so it cleanly cuts across the others. Context badges: 11px radius white circles with the rank inside. Highlighted badges: 16px radius solid teal circles with a 3px background-colored ring and the actual score printed inside in white.
- Bar chart: horizontal rounded bars (6px radius, 18px thick) per category in #B3C3D2, one highlighted category in teal; end each bar with a circular badge (same badge specs) showing its rank, and place the score inside the highlighted badge. Category names left of the bars in Nunito 15px 600.

Avoid: a legend (label the ends directly), sharp corners, more than one accent color, heavy gridlines, and dark backgrounds.

When you're done, render the chart and check that every period column is a complete ranking with no duplicated ranks, the highlighted ribbon sits on top with its halo, names at both ends line up with their badges, and badge numbers are centered.
