Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Enamel Plate" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a vintage porcelain enamel sign screwed to a seaside wall. Glossy, fired colors, sturdy slab lettering and the small wear of a sign that has seen weather.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Wall behind the plate: #CFC8BB.
- Plate border and top band: cobalt #1D3F94. The band has a vertical gradient #3558B0 to #1D3F94 to #132D6E and a 3px highlight (#6C8BD6 at 70%) along its top edge. A 1.5px #4E6FC2 inner highlight runs just inside the outer plate edge.
- Field: cream #F3EAD3 with a soft radial lift to #F8F1DE near the upper center. Outline the field with a 2px #0E2461 line.
- Series: fired red #C8202F and cobalt #1D3F94.
- Axis ink: iron #2A2724 (baseline at 70% opacity, gridlines at 14%). Tick labels and notes: #6F6656.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Alfa Slab One for the title (27px, uppercase, cream #F3EAD3, centered in the cobalt band, 0.5px letter-spacing) and the end-value badges (17px cream).
- Roboto Slab for everything else: subtitle 15px 500 in #C9D5F2 inside the band; tick labels 14px 500 #6F6656; series names 13px 700 uppercase with 1px letter-spacing in the series color; annotation 13px (700 for its first line); source 12px.

Layout:
- Plate: 932 x 572 at (14, 14), corner radius 34, with a soft drop shadow (dy 5, blur 6, #3A342A at 45%).
- Cream field inset 26px inside the plate (880 x 520, radius 18), leaving a 26px cobalt border.
- Raised cobalt band across the top of the field: 852 x 92 at (54, 54), radius 10, with a tight 1px shadow so it looks fired on top. Title and subtitle centered in it.
- Plot from x 132 to 790, y 208 to 494. End-value badges at the right, the source right-aligned at the bottom of the field.

Axes and grid:
- Gridlines 1.2px iron at 14% every step, a 2px iron baseline at 70%, tick marks 7px long below the baseline. Y labels like "6k" 18px left of the plot; x labels 28px below the baseline, only every fourth period.

Marks:
- Line chart: 6px straight-segment lines with round joins and caps and a tight 1px fired shadow, round markers r 7 in the series color with a 2.5px cream ring. End each line with a pill badge (96 x 34, radius 17) in the series color holding the last value in cream Alfa Slab One, the series name above or below the badge. Mark a crossing or key event with a dashed 1.5px iron line (3 on, 4 off) and a two-line note.
- Bar chart: solid bars in cobalt (or red for the highlighted bar) with 6px rounded top corners and the same 1px fired shadow, a 2.5px cream gap between bars and the baseline, values in Alfa Slab One above each bar.

Texture and effects:
- Gloss: over the whole plate, a diagonal white gradient with a 32% streak at 28 to 44% and a 14% streak at 62 to 70%.
- Mounting holes: at the four corners of the border, r 9 brass grommets (#B8963E, 1.5px #6E5620 stroke) with an r 5 #1A1714 hole and a tiny highlight.
- Chips: three or four small irregular chips (about 10 to 15 px) on the outer plate edge, iron #2A2724 inside a 4px pale ground-coat ring #E4E6EA, clipped to the plate.

Avoid: thin lines, flat modern sans serifs, transparency on the data, heavy grunge, chips inside the data area, a boxed legend.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the band title fits with room to spare, the badges do not collide, chips and holes sit only on the border, and the gloss does not wash out the lines.
