Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Emergence Curves" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a rearing-lab results panel on a dark moss background. Calm and scientific: three glowing-but-soft curves, each labeled where it levels off, and one precise marker per curve for the moment it passes the halfway point.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #141A12 (dark moss) for the whole canvas.
- Series: #C8E07A (pale lime), #E8A13C (amber), #B39DDB (soft violet), in order of when they rise.
- Primary text: #E6EBDD. Secondary text: #8E9A85. Gridlines: #263022; the zero line #3A4634.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Commissioner throughout. Title 600, 27px, #E6EBDD, -0.3px letter-spacing, stating the finding with the computed gap. Eyebrow 11px 600 uppercase with 2.4px letter-spacing in #8E9A85. Subtitle 15px 400 #8E9A85 with measure and x unit.
- Series labels 15px 600 in the series color with a second line 13px 400 #8E9A85 giving the final value ("412 adults"). Marker labels 13px 600 in the series color ("Day 19"). Ticks 12px #8E9A85.

Layout:
- 56px left margin. Eyebrow at y 52, title at y 94, subtitle at y 122.
- Plot from x 88 to 780, y 168 to 492, leaving a 150px right gutter for the plateau labels.
- X-axis title right-aligned under the last tick ("Days after traps set"). Footer at y 566: a small open-circle key with its explanation on the left, the source note right-aligned on the right.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal gridlines only, 1px #263022; no vertical gridlines, no axis lines except the slightly brighter zero line. Y labels right-aligned 12px left of the plot.

Marks:
- Line chart: cumulative S-curves as 3px smooth monotone lines with round caps (no overshoot). Label each curve at its plateau, 16px to the right of its end, vertically at the plateau value. At the first day each series reaches 50% of its final total: an open circle (r 5.5, background fill, 2.4px series-colored stroke), a 1.2px dashed drop line (3 on, 4 off, 80% opacity) straight down to the axis, a 2px 10px-tall tick on the axis, and the "Day N" label 12px to the left of the circle.
- Bar chart: vertical bars with 3px top corners in the three series colors (grouped), on the same dark ground, with values in the series color above each bar and the halfway-point idea shown as a 1.2px dashed horizontal line at 50% of each group's total.

Avoid: glow filters, gradients under the curves, legends in boxes, vertical gridlines, any bright white lines, and markers on every data point.

When you're done, render the chart and check that each 50% marker sits on its curve at the right day, the gap in the title matches the marker days, the plateau labels don't overlap each other, and the violet still reads against the moss.
