Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Earnings Card" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a card in a dark investor dashboard. Calm navy, soft periwinkle bars, one crisp green/red signal per period and a big headline number.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Backdrop: #0B1220. Card: #131C31 with a 1px #243150 border, 20px radius and a soft drop shadow (0, 12px offset, 16px blur, black at 45%).
- Bars: #8EA2FF (periwinkle), as a top-to-bottom gradient from 100% to 55% opacity for the latest period and 62% to 30% for earlier periods.
- Beat or positive signal: #3DD68C (green). Miss or negative signal: #FF6B6B (red).
- Text #EEF1FA; secondary text #8C97B2; dashed gridlines #243150; baseline #3A4870.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Figtree throughout, tabular figures for numbers.
- Company name 16px 700, meta line 13px 500 #8C97B2. Title 25px 700, -0.3px letter-spacing, stating the finding. Subtitle 14px #8C97B2 with measure, unit and what the dots mean.
- Headline number 46px 800, -1.4px letter-spacing, right-aligned, with a 26px #8C97B2 unit suffix; above it an 11.5px 600 uppercase label with 1.6px letter-spacing; below it a green pill (14% green fill, 12px radius) with "22.7% year on year" in 12.5px 700 green, led by an 8px filled green up-triangle drawn as a path (Figtree has no triangle glyph).
- Axis labels 12px; period labels 12.5px 500 (latest 700 in #EEF1FA); dot values 12px 600.

Layout:
- Card inset 32px from the canvas sides and 28px top and bottom. Inside, 32px padding.
- Header at top left: a 36px rounded (10px) icon tile in periwinkle at 16% with a letter mark, the company name and meta line beside it; the title and subtitle below.
- A chip row under the subtitle: 30px tall pills, fully rounded; the active one filled #8EA2FF with 700 #131C31 text, the others outlined 1px #243150 with #8C97B2 text. A small dot legend (filled green "EPS beat", hollow red "EPS miss") right of the chips.
- Chart below, footer inside the card: source at left, a definitions note at right.

Axes and grid:
- Y labels at left, 12px #8C97B2; gridlines 1px #243150 dashed (3 on, 5 off); a 1px #3A4870 baseline. No x-axis line beyond the baseline.

Marks:
- Bar chart: 54px bars (about 55% of the band) with 8px top corners. Above each bar, 16px above its top, a signal dot: filled green r 6 for a beat, or hollow r 5 with a 2.2px red ring for a miss (filled versus hollow carries the meaning without color). The per-share value sits 14px above the dot, in #EEF1FA for beats and red for misses.
- Line chart: a 2.5px periwinkle line with a soft periwinkle area fill fading from 30% to 0%, the same beat/miss dots on each point, and the latest point larger with its value.

Avoid: light backgrounds, neon glows, more than one accent family, legends without the filled/hollow distinction, and chart junk like 3D or bevels.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the beat count in the title matches the dots, the headline change is computed against the same period a year earlier, dots never touch the bars or labels, and the card corners and shadow are not clipped.
