Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Dye Lots" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a dyehouse quality-control screen in deep ink navy. Technical and calm, where each series is drawn in the very shade it measures, a pale tolerance band shows what passes, and failures are marked like a technician's cross on the chart.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #111726 (deep ink navy). Panels: #172036 with 3px corner radius.
- Series, one per shade: #D0693A (rust), #2FA89A (teal), #D9A62A (mustard), #B06AAE (plum).
- Tolerance band: #DDE6F5 at 7% opacity with a 1px #DDE6F5 dashed top edge (3 on, 3 off, 55% opacity).
- Rejection cross and reject counts: #FF6B5E.
- Text: title #F2F4F8, subtitle and readings #C9D3E6, secondary #8290AB.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Syne 700 for the title (34px, -0.6px letter-spacing, stating the finding) and panel names (14px, 1.4px letter-spacing, uppercase, in the series color); Syne 400 14px for the subtitle.
- Inconsolata for every reading and label: header line 12.5px 500 uppercase with 2px letter-spacing; shade codes 12.5px #8290AB; reject counts 12.5px 700 uppercase; axis labels 11.5px; reading labels on rejected points 11.5px 600 #C9D3E6; footer 12px.

Layout:
- 56px side margins; header line, title, subtitle at the top, with a small marker key at top right (a hollow ring with a red cross "REJECTED LOT", a pale swatch "TOL.").
- Small multiples: one panel per series in a 2 x 2 grid (412 x 186 px panels, 24px gutters). Each panel header has a 22 x 14 px color chip, the shade name, a code, and the reject count right-aligned (red when above zero, pale when zero).
- Footer: "Source: ..." left and a measurement note right, both Inconsolata.

Axes and grid:
- Shared y scale in every panel (0.0 to 1.5 here), labels at left in #8290AB with the tolerance value in #C9D3E6. No gridlines apart from the tolerance band edge and a 1px baseline at 60% opacity. X labels at 1, 5, 10, 15, 20.

Marks:
- Line chart: a 2px line in the shade color with straight segments and small 2.2px dots for passing readings. A reading outside tolerance becomes a hollow 5px ring (panel-colored fill, 1.8px stroke in the shade) with a small 6px red cross just above-right, and its value printed to the upper left.
- Bar chart: one slim bar per lot in the shade color (square corners) inside each panel over the tolerance band; bars beyond tolerance become hollow outlines with the red cross above them and their value printed.

Avoid: putting all series on one crowded chart, neon glows, gradients, and legends that repeat panel names.

When you're done, render the chart and check that every panel uses the same y scale, the reject counts in headers and title match the points outside tolerance, the crosses do not collide with value labels, and the panel names never overlap their codes.
