Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Duotone" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a two-ink screen-printed film poster. Everything is deep indigo or hot coral, or a tint mixed between them, under a faint halftone dot screen, with a big halftone graphic in the corner.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Ground: #1B1340 (deep indigo).
- Ink: #FF6B5B (hot coral) for the data line, band, frame, eyebrow, second title line, tags and the halftone graphic.
- Tints between the two inks: #E9B7B8 light tint for the subtitle and band caption, #9A4A6A mid tint for axis labels and footer text, #3B2352 dark tint for gridlines.
- White #FFFFFF only for the first title line and text knocked out of coral tags.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Unbounded 900 for the title, uppercase, 36px, two lines: line one white, line two coral (baselines about y 108 and 150).
- Manrope for everything else: eyebrow 700 12px uppercase, 2.6px letter-spacing, coral; subtitle 500 15px; axis values 600 12px; x labels 700 11px uppercase with 1px letter-spacing ("WK 9"); tags 800 12px uppercase, 1.2px letter-spacing; footer 500 12px and 700 11px uppercase with 2px letter-spacing.

Layout:
- 48px margins. A 1.5px coral frame inset 14px on all sides.
- Title block top left. A halftone "moon" fills the top right corner: a dot grid on an 11px pitch inside a 124px radius circle centered near (826, 104), each dot's radius 0.6 + 4.6 x light, where light is a sphere lit from the upper left; coral at 90% opacity, clipped by the frame so it bleeds off the corner.
- Plot from about y 234 to y 510, x 96 to 880. Footer line inside the frame at y 572.

Texture:
- A faint halftone screen over the whole ground: coral dots of radius 1.1 on an 8px grid rotated 45 degrees, at 10% opacity.

Axes and grid:
- Three 1px #3B2352 gridlines with mid-tint values right-aligned 12px left of the plot. A 1.5px coral baseline.

Marks:
- Line chart: actuals as a single 4px coral line, straight segments, round joins; the forecast continues as a 3px coral dashed line (8 on, 6 off). The uncertainty range is a band filled with a vertical gradient from coral at 62% opacity (top of plot) to indigo at 20% (lower plot), edged by 1px coral lines at 60% opacity. A dotted 1px mid-tint divider marks where the forecast starts, with a 6px coral dot ringed 2.5px in indigo at the last actual.
- Bar chart: flat coral bars, square corners, 60% of the band, with forecast or secondary bars filled with the coral halftone dot pattern instead of solid ink.

Labels and annotation:
- Knocked-out tags: solid coral rectangles 21px tall with white Manrope 800 12px uppercase text ("ACTUAL", "FORECAST", "PEAK 540"). The peak tag sits above the band with a 1.2px coral leader to a white dot ringed in coral.

Avoid: any third hue, pure black, drop shadows, glows, rounded corners, and full-strength white anywhere except the first title line and tag text.

When you're done, render the chart and check that everything reads as two inks, the halftone moon stays clear of the plot, tags don't cover the line, and the stated peak matches the data.
