Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Drydown" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a perfumer's fragrance brief. Ivory stock, thin gold hairlines, an italic serif headline and three soft curves that swell and taper like a scent drying down on skin.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #FBF8F2 (ivory). Hairlines, eyebrows and the hour scale: #B89B5E (gold).
- Series (up to three): #E3C04D (citrus yellow), #D88A9A (rose), #A0612C (amber). Darker label inks for small text in each series color: #8F7419, #A65468, #8A5220.
- Ink: #2E2A24. Secondary text: #7D7466. Faint guides: #E7DFCF.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Playfair Display italic (400) for the title (34px ink, stating the finding) and the series names at their peaks (18px ink).
- Questrial for everything else: eyebrows 12px uppercase with 4px letter-spacing in gold (brand at left, document name right-aligned); subtitle 15px #7D7466; series family labels 11px uppercase, 2.4px letter-spacing, in the dark label ink; tick labels 12 to 14px.

Layout:
- 56px margins. A 0.8px gold hairline at y 40, eyebrows at y 64, title at y 116, subtitle at y 146, another gold hairline at y 170.
- Plot from x 96 to 880, y 214 to 468. Footer hairline at y 552 with the source at left and a small gold "EAU DE PARFUM" style tag at right.

Axes and grid:
- Four faint 0.8px #E7DFCF horizontal guides with 12px labels at left; no y-axis line.
- The x axis is a watch-dial scale: a 1.2px gold baseline, 12px major ticks (1.4px) every whole unit and 5px minor ticks (0.7px) at quarters, Arabic numerals 14px centered 32px below, every label in the same style and color including the last. A small uppercase axis caption right-aligned beneath.

Marks:
- Line chart: each series is a tapered ribbon, not a constant stroke: draw a filled polygon along the smooth curve whose width is 0.8px + 4.2px x (value / max), so it thins as the value weakens. Under each, an area fill in the same color at 10% opacity. Mark each peak with an r 3.5 ivory dot with a 1.6px ring, and set the uppercase family label above the italic series name at the peak.
- Bar chart: slim square-top bars in the series colors, 10% tint backgrounds full height behind each group, value labels in Questrial 13px; the italic series name above the tallest bar of each series. Keep the watch-dial category axis.

Avoid: heavy strokes, dark backgrounds, drop shadows, legends in a box (label at peaks instead), bright saturated hues, dense grids.

When you're done, render the chart and check that every ribbon visibly tapers, peak labels don't collide with each other or the curves, and the yellow series stays readable against ivory thanks to its label ink.
