Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Drum Level" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a boiler control display at night. Deep navy, a monospace instrument voice, one thick glowing-cyan process line and a stack of limit bands that make the danger zones unmistakable.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #0C1626. Plot area and readout panel: #101D31. Borders: #22344F.
- Normal band: #15263F (dim, solid). Alarm bands: #F2A93B at 20% opacity with 1px #F2A93B limit lines. Trip zones at the top and bottom: #E5484D at 22% opacity with 1px #E5484D limit lines.
- Process value line: #3CD0E6 (cyan). Setpoint, title and event marker: #F2F5F8. Secondary text: #7F90A8.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Kode Mono for everything. Eyebrow 12px 500 uppercase with 1.4px letter-spacing. Title 24px 700 #F2F5F8 over two lines, stating the finding. Subtitle 13px 400 #7F90A8 with unit, span and the key figures.
- Band labels 10px 700 uppercase with 1px letter-spacing in the band color ("HI-HI TRIP", "HI ALARM", "LO ALARM", "LO-LO TRIP"), placed 8px inside the left edge and centered in each band. Tick labels 11px #7F90A8, signed ("+100", "-100").
- The digital readout: 56px 700 #3CD0E6 current value with an explicit sign, unit in 16px beside it, tag name 11px above, "SP +0 mm" and a mode word ("AUTO" in cyan 700) beneath.

Layout:
- 40px margins. Title block top left; the digital readout as a 200 x 118 px #101D31 panel with a 1px #22344F border in the top right.
- Plot from about x 88 to 904, y 176 to 512, framed 1px #22344F. Footer rule at y 556 with "Source: ..." left and a control-mode note right, 11px.

Axes and grid:
- No gridlines: the band edges are the grid. Y labels only at the band limits and zero. Short 5px tick marks on the time axis, labels 11px, and the unit word ("minutes") right-aligned below.

Marks:
- Line chart: the process value as a 3.2px #3CD0E6 line with round joins; the setpoint as a 1px #F2F5F8 line labelled "SP" at the right end. Mark the event with a 1.2px #F2F5F8 dotted vertical line (1.5 on, 4 off, round caps) and a small boxed tag (#0C1626 fill, #22344F border) reading the event and its size ("LOAD STEP / 280 > 340 MW"). Ring the extreme points (5px, background fill, 2px stroke) and label them in 12px 700: the one inside an alarm band in amber, the other in cyan.
- Bar chart: vertical bars in #3CD0E6 (square ends, about 55% of the slot) drawn over the same band structure, a 1px white setpoint line, and any bar that reaches an alarm band capped with a 3px amber top edge and an amber value label.

Avoid: gridlines, gradients inside the bands, glows beyond the line itself, multiple process colors, rounded panels, and proportional fonts.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the bands read in order (red, amber, dim normal, amber, red), the readout matches the last value, the stated peak and time above alarm match the data, and nothing overlaps the band labels.
