Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Drive-In" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a summer night at a 1950s drive-in theatre. The chart is the movie screen under a starry sky, drawn in neon pink and aqua with marquee-bulb highlights.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Night sky: #0C1633, with a vertical gradient from #081028 at the top, sprinkled with about 140 tiny white stars (radius 0.4 to 1.5, opacity 15% to 60%, seeded so they never move).
- Screen panel: #13214A with a 2px #2B3C73 border and a 1px #2B3C73 inner line 8px below the top edge.
- Neon pink: #FF4FA3 for the first series and the title. Aqua: #3FE0D0 for the second series.
- Marquee yellow: #F6E7A1 for highlighted period bands and their labels.
- Text: #C9D3F0 for subtitle and legend; #8E9AC4 for axis labels and footer. Gridlines #22335F; zero line #3A4C85.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Monoton for the title only (30px pink with a 3px soft glow, stating the finding). Keep it short; Monoton is very wide.
- Righteous for everything else: subtitle 16px; axis labels 12px; direct series labels 15px in the series color; point callouts 15px; band labels 10px uppercase with 1.5px letter-spacing in yellow; legend 14px; footer brand 12px with 3px letter-spacing.

Layout:
- Title at x 48, baseline y 68; subtitle y 104.
- Screen panel from x 40 to 920, y 128 to 488: square top corners, 30px rounded bottom corners, like a drive-in screen.
- Plot inside the panel from x 104 to 790, y 164 to 440, leaving room at the right for direct labels.
- Below the panel a legend row at y 530: a line-drawn speaker-post glyph (a post on a small foot with two rounded speaker boxes, each with two grille lines, 1.6px #C9D3F0 strokes), then 28px line swatches with labels, then a band swatch. Footer at y 578.

Axes and grid:
- No axis lines; 1px #22335F gridlines, values right-aligned 12px left of the plot; every other date label under the plot.

Marks and effects:
- Line chart: smooth monotone lines, 3px, round caps, each with a neon glow (5px Gaussian blur merged under the stroke). End dots of radius 4.5 with the series name to the right. Label the peak of each series in its color above a dot.
- Highlight bands: yellow at 9% opacity spanning the highlighted periods, each topped with a 2px yellow line carrying nine softly glowing 2.4px marquee bulbs and a small uppercase label.
- Bar chart: grouped bars with 4px rounded tops, pink and aqua, each with the same soft neon glow, values in Righteous above, and the same yellow bulb-topped bands behind highlighted groups.

Avoid: white backgrounds, flat unglowing lines, more than two neon colors, stars inside the screen panel, and a boxed legend.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the glows are unclipped, stars stay outside the screen, the pink and aqua lines are labeled directly, and the title claim holds for the data.
