Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Dose Response" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a page from a pharmacology assay report. Clinical white, precise and quietly technical: fitted curves, replicate error bars and a small results table, the way a lab scientist would present potency to a project team.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #FFFFFF. Primary ink (title, table values, axis line): #1A2230. Secondary text: #667080. Gridlines: #E6E9EE. Table border: #C9CFD8.
- Series, in order: #1F4E9A (deep assay blue), #1B8A7A (teal), #5E554C (warm graphite). A fourth series, if needed: #B0703A.
- Each series keeps one color for its curve, points, error bars, drop line, value chip and label.

Typography (Google Fonts): Readex Pro for all text.
- Eyebrow: 500, 11.5px, uppercase, 1.8px letter-spacing, #667080, with a 1.5px #1A2230 rule 12px below spanning the full width.
- Title: 600, 30px, #1A2230, stating the finding (e.g. which compound is most potent and its IC50).
- Subtitle: 300, 15px, #667080, naming measure, unit, scale and replicate count.
- Tick labels 13px 400; axis titles 500 12.5px #667080; table headers 500 10.5px uppercase with 1.2px letter-spacing; table values 13px; series end labels 600 12px in the series color.

Layout:
- 56px side margins. Eyebrow at y 50, title baseline about y 102, subtitle about y 130. Plot area from about x 96 to x 850 and y 170 to y 478, leaving room on the right for series end labels.
- A compact results table sits inside the upper left of the plot (16px in from the axes, 250px wide), white fill with a 1px #C9CFD8 border: columns for series name (with its marker), the key parameter (IC50 or EC50), Hill slope and maximum effect. Place it where the data leave empty space.
- Footer: a 1px #E6E9EE rule at y 548, "Source: ..." at left in 300 12px, a page number at right.

Axes and grid:
- Log-scaled x axis for concentration or dose: decade gridlines 1px #E6E9EE, a 7px major tick per decade and 4px minor ticks at 2 to 9 on a 1.2px #1A2230 axis line. Label decades in units (1 nM, 10 nM, 100 nM, 1 µM...).
- Y axis with gridlines every 25% (0 to 100), no y axis line. Extend the y domain below zero (to about -24) so a strip under the zero line holds the midpoint value chips.

Marks:
- Line chart: smooth 2.4px fitted curves with round caps (a four-parameter logistic for dose response). Replicate means as small filled markers with a 1.2px white ring, one shape per series (circle r 4.4, square 8px, triangle 10px) so series survive grayscale; 1.1px vertical error bars with 6px caps; offset the three series' points by 3px horizontally so bars do not overlap. From each curve's midpoint, a 1.2px dashed (4 3) vertical drop line down to a 19px tall, radius 3 chip in the series color holding the value in 600 12px white, plus a faint 0.8px dashed (2 3) horizontal leader to the y axis at 55% opacity. Label each curve at its right end.
- Bar chart: slim vertical bars (about 40% of the band) in the series colors on the same white page and gridlines, with the error bar drawn on each bar (1.1px, 6px caps) and the value in 13px #1A2230 above. Keep the in-plot results table and put a single dashed reference line (1.2px, 4 3) at any threshold, with its value in a colored chip at the axis.

Avoid: gradients, shadows, rounded bars, legends outside the plot, a linear concentration axis, heavy borders, and extrapolating curves beyond the tested range.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the concentration axis is logarithmic with minor ticks, every drop line lands on its chip without hitting data points, the table does not cover any curve, and the numbers in the title match the table.
