Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Dividend Calendar" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: an income card in a modern investing app. A pale lilac page, one white rounded card with a soft shadow, confident violet bars topped with lighter periwinkle, and a clear split between money already paid and money still projected.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #F1EFF7 (lilac gray). Card: #FFFFFF, 24px radius, shadows 0 2px 4px and 0 14px 40px in #3A2A7A at 5% and 8%.
- Series 1 (bottom of the stack): #6D3FE0 (violet). Series 2 (top): #A9B4F5 (periwinkle). A third series, if needed: #D6A8F0.
- Projected periods: the same colors at 40% (violet) and 55% (periwinkle) opacity, wrapped in a dotted #6D3FE0 outline.
- Text: #1D1733 (title, paid totals), #6E6887 (subtitle, month labels, projected totals), #A19CB6 (axis labels, source, "TODAY"). Gridlines #EEEBF5, baseline #DDD8EA.
- Summary pill: #F1ECFF with the figure in #6D3FE0.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Outfit for the title (26px 600, -0.3px letter-spacing, stating the finding), the pill figure (18px 700) and bar total labels (14px 700).
- Inter for everything small, with tabular figures: subtitle 13.5px 400, legend 12.5px 500, axis labels 11.5px 500, month labels 12.5px (500 paid, 400 projected), "TODAY" 10.5px 600 uppercase with 1.2px letter-spacing, source 11.5px 400.

Layout:
- Card inset 40px left and right and 32px top and bottom, 32px internal padding. Title and subtitle top left. Top right of the card: a 40px-tall fully rounded summary pill with a 5px violet dot, "Paid YTD" in 13px #6E6887 and the total in bold violet.
- A legend row under the subtitle: 12px rounded squares for each series, plus a dotted-outline square labelled "Projected, <months>".
- The chart fills the lower card. A 1px dashed #DDD8EA vertical divider between the last paid and first projected period, with "TODAY" beside its top.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal gridlines only, 1px #EEEBF5, at 3 or 4 round values, labelled at left in 11.5px #A19CB6 ("$100"). No vertical axis line, no ticks.
- Category labels centered under each bar.

Marks:
- Bar chart: 38px stacked bars (about 58% of the band). The bottom segment square, the top segment with 8px rounded top corners and a 2px white gap between segments. Each stack topped with its total in bold 9px above (12px above for projected ones, in #6E6887). Projected stacks are pale and wrapped in a dotted 1.4px #6D3FE0 outline (dash 1.5 3, round caps) with 10px rounded top corners, offset 3px outside the bar.
- Line chart: a 2.5px #6D3FE0 line with a soft #6D3FE0 area at 10% opacity, the second series as a 2px #A9B4F5 line; round 4px dots with 2px white rings at each period, the value above the latest paid point, and the projected stretch of each line drawn dotted (1.5 3) with hollow dots.

Avoid: dark backgrounds, sharp corners on the card, hard shadows, more than three hues, hatched fills and axis boxes.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the stacks add up to their labels, the pill equals the sum of the paid periods, the title total equals the full-year sum, and the projected periods are clearly distinguishable from paid ones even in grayscale.
