Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Dispensing Label" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a white adhesive pharmacy dispensing label stuck on a paper prescription bag. Plain, printed, regulatory and trustworthy: black on white, monospace dosage figures, one yellow warning strip.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page (the bag): #DCDFDC pale pharmacy-bag gray around the label.
- Label: #FFFFFF with a 1.5px #111111 border, 16px corner radius and a soft 3px drop offset (#000000 at 8% opacity).
- Ink: #111111 for the header strip, text, axis baseline and the main data line.
- Secondary text: #555A57. Gridlines: #D6D8D6. Reference series: #8C918E.
- Warning strip: #FFD83D with a #111111 border.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Arimo: pharmacy name 21px 700 uppercase, 2.5px letter-spacing, white on the black strip; title 23px 700 #111111 stating the finding; subtitle 14px 400 #555A57; small caps labels ("TABLETS / DAY", "KEEP OUT OF THE REACH AND SIGHT OF CHILDREN") 10px 700 uppercase with 1.2 to 1.5px letter-spacing; warning "TAKE WITH FOOD" 17px 700 with 1.5px letter-spacing, the advice sentence 14px 400.
- Courier Prime for every figure and dosage detail: the drug line ("VELOTRIN 20 MG TABLETS", "QTY 56") 17px 700; patient and date 15px 400; y tick numbers 15px 700; x labels "DAY 7" 13px 400; point annotations like "1/2" 13px 700; source line and the Rx number 12px.

Layout:
- The label fills the canvas with 44px side margins and 30px top and bottom margins.
- A 50px black header strip across the top of the label (rounded top corners only) with the invented pharmacy name left and a two-line address and phone number right in 11px Arimo #CFCFCF.
- Under it a drug line in Courier Prime, then a 1px dashed (3 3) #111111 rule, then the title and subtitle, all left aligned 24px inside the label.
- The plot below, then a full-width boxed warning row, then a footer line: source left, the children warning centered, "Rx 0047213" style number right.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal 1px #D6D8D6 gridlines at each whole unit; the zero line is a 1.2px #111111 baseline. No y-axis line.
- Y tick numbers in Courier Prime bold to the left; a small uppercase unit label above the axis.
- X ticks are 5px black ticks under the baseline at a few key positions only (DAY 1, 7, 14, 21, 28).

Marks:
- Line chart: the measured series is a single 2.4px #111111 line with straight segments and 7px square markers at every point (solid black; white fill with a black 1.6px outline where the value falls short of plan). A reference or target series is a thick 5px #8C918E step line at 45% opacity drawn underneath. Where the line falls short, drop a 1px dotted (2 2) black leader from the marker up to the reference and print "taken/prescribed" (e.g. "1/2") in Courier Prime bold just above the reference on a white knockout.
- Bar chart: square-cornered #111111 bars about 55% of the band on the same white label, the reference as a 5px #8C918E tick across each bar, value labels in Courier Prime 13px bold above each bar, shortfall bars drawn as white fill with a 1.6px black outline.

Labels and annotation:
- Direct labels at the right end: the reference name in 13px Arimo #8C918E and the measured series in 13px Arimo 700 #111111. No legend box.
- Warning row: a 38px-tall #FFD83D box with a 1.5px black border spanning the label; a 38px black square at its left holding a yellow "!" in Arimo 700; "TAKE WITH FOOD" then the advice sentence; a Courier Prime bold summary ("Missed: days 10, 14, 17") right aligned.

Avoid: color beyond black, gray and the one yellow; gradients; rounded plot marks; serif fonts; decorative icons; a legend box.

When you're done, render the chart and check that it reads as a real printed label (black strip, border, dashed rule, yellow warning), every figure is in Courier Prime, the shortfall annotations sit above the reference without touching the line, and the totals in the title match the data.
