Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Die Area" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a chip floorplan read as a chart. Thick horizontal bars built from solid functional blocks in floorplan colors, thin white separators and faint internal tiling like core tiles and cache banks, each die wrapped in a hairline seal ring. Technical, geometric and calm on a white page.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #FFFFFF.
- Categories in fixed order: #3F6FD1 (cores blue), #53A86B (cache green), #8C5AC8 (graphics purple), #E08A32 (IO orange).
- Block separators and in-block values: #FFFFFF.
- Primary text: #171B26. Secondary text: #636A78. Vertical gridlines: #E4E7EC. Seal ring outline: #B9BFCA.

Typography (Google Fonts): Anta (single weight 400) throughout; hierarchy comes from size and color.
- Title 25px #171B26 stating the finding with the number. Subtitle 14.5px #636A78 with measure and unit.
- Legend labels 13.5px. Row names 20px #171B26 with a 12.5px #636A78 descriptor line below. In-block values 14px white. Totals 21px #171B26 with the unit as a 12.5px #636A78 suffix. Axis labels 12px #636A78. Source 11.5px.

Layout:
- 56px side margins; title at y 58, subtitle at 86, a legend row of 16 x 16 px square swatches at y 106.
- Row labels in a left column from x 56; bars start at x 200 and the axis ends at x 840, leaving room for the totals.
- Bars 58px tall, 92px apart center to center.
- Source at y 578 left, and a short note explaining the internal lines at right.

Axes and grid:
- X axis from 0 with vertical 1px #E4E7EC gridlines at round steps (every 50 here) running the full height of the rows; labels 12px below the last row, the last one carrying the unit ("250 mm²").
- No y axis, no baseline, no horizontal gridlines.

Marks:
- Bar chart: stacked horizontal bars, square corners, blocks in category order left to right. Separate blocks with a 2.5px white rule. Inside the first category draw one tile per unit (for cores: a 2-row grid, cores/2 columns) with 1px white lines at 55% opacity; inside the second category draw 3 horizontal 1px white lines at 40% opacity (banks). Each block's value sits at its top-left corner, 7 to 9px in and 19px down, in 14px white. Draw a 1px #B9BFCA seal ring 4px outside each whole bar. The total sits 16px past the bar end in 21px ink with the unit in small gray.
- Line chart: 2.5px lines in the four category colors with square 7px markers (no rounding) and a white 1.5px outline, direct labels at the right end in the category color, the same vertical gridlines and a thin #B9BFCA frame around the plot as the seal ring.

Avoid: rounded corners, gradients, shadows, value labels centered on busy tile lines, legends placed far from the bars, and any colors beyond the four block colors.

When you're done, render the chart and check that block values add up to each total, the tile counts match the unit counts, separators are visible between every block, and the seal ring clears the bar evenly on all sides.
